New to Korea. I don't really know where exactly to start looking but I need a USB adapter so that I can plug my Korea-purchased mouse into one of my USB ports. The mouse has the standard round 6-pin plug (PS/2 ???).

I'm in the Gwangmyeong/Mokdong area but am in Itaewon at least weekly. Anyone know who would carry the adapter in either area (or even in another area if it's easy to find from any subway station).

Thanks!

Yongsan will have those, but it might be a chore to find where. I don't know offhand.

I think it will be sold in more than one place in Yongsan, but there is one, fairly easy to find store there.

If you are coming from the subway system you will be crossing a footbridge from the station to a building. Go to the ground floor of that building and in one of the corners there is a store that sells all sorts of cables, plugs and connecting bits and pieces. I bet there is one in there.

Your neighborhood department store (E-mart, Home Plus, Kims Club, Lottemart, etc) should have a USB mouse for about 4000 won. You can get them at Yongsan station for the same (or lower) price. It would be easier than finding an adapter (which you can also get at Yongsan for about 2000 won.

If you do try asking, it is a PS2 to USB adapter. Usually they are included in the mouse box so it might not be easy to find one by itself.

Right, or do yourself a favor and get a decent mouse. You can get a nice multi button USB mouse these days for 20 or 30k.

If there's a Korean citizen (Director, coteacher, coworker, girl/boy friend) who can help you buy something online,

http://kr.search.shopping.yahoo.com/search/all?cat=&p=usb+ps2+%C4%C9%C0%CC%BA%ED

They seem to be fairly cheap~~less than 5,000 won.

If not, the halls of Yongsan are a beautiful place.

Really though, I agree with JustJohn, get a better mouse. It'll cost you less than a couple of beers/kimbops, and it's well worth it. Nothing can ruin a computer session more than an unresponsive mouse.
