think is the best DJ/Producer. Rank in order of your opinion.

My take:

1. Armin Van Buuren
2. ATB
3. Tiesto
4. Ferrry Corsten
5. Paul van Dyke

I've seen 1, 3 and 5 live.

I'm not massively into trance(I assume the other two are also trance djs?) so I havn;t really listened to them otherwise. I'll go with van buuren because he was the best live.

Since they are all trance DJ's I shall rank them in order of who sucks the most:

1. Ferry Corsten
2. Armin Van Buuren
3. ATB
4. Paul van Dyke
5. Tiesto

Before you get your panties in a wad, realize that it's a subjective opinion that should have no bearing on your own.

Also, trance DJ's have very gay-ish sounding names. That doesn't detract from their music or factor into my assertion about them sucking. It's just a characteristic that I picked up on.

ATB has more range than many...even Armin...though Armin through sheer production is the best...

I agree. Tiesto is way overrated. He is too commerical and more in it for money than love of Trance. That said, he does make some good stuff.

I like ATB and AVB because they are very personable. I met both briefly in Holland and Germany. I have only been to their gigs but it was very cool. Ferry Corsten seems cool too. Van Dyke used to be a lot better; don't know what happened. ATB is cool because he has very good chill out music.

I should have mentioned Above and Beyond. Good stuff too...

3. Tiesto
4. Ferry Corstan
5. Carl Cox. Or is he considered "House"?

Erm...

I've only seen Armin out of that list. Seems strange that you've missed out Sander Klienenberg and Sasha and Digweed off that list. Their CD's are way better and live they're miles better.

That said it was 10 years ago I used to watch and listen to this stuff. Got myself more into Techno and DnB. Trance really does sound a bit gay and samey nowadays.

Trance is to techno what disco is to funk. Trance is just pop music on amphetamines, while Techno deconstructs music and its fun and you can dance to it. Give me techno anytime.

Above and Beyond, BT, Armin Van Burren.

Not the biggest fan of Tiesto but he's made some good stuff. Also, from what little I've read about him, he seems humble or at least not a asshat screaming "I'm the best in the world!".
