|
|
I've been offered job at WaSeok Elementary School in Paju. It seems very close to the DMZ. Is that something I should be concerned about? Is anyone familiar with this city or school?
I'd also like to check on the recruiter- Bizklc. Legit? Any problems working with them?
Thank you for any advice.

Rural area, but not very far from Seoul, it's in the Gyeonggi Province. Being close to the DMZ is no more dangerous than living in Seoul. You won't catch any artillery. Do a little reading about the DMZ to ease your mind, and your mother's mind. |

I agree with Bibbity. Living near the DMZ really isn't anything to worry about. |

Why would the OP want to "catch artillery"? |

Paju is not the DMZ. Small, backward town about 1.5 hours from Seoul. Easily reachable by train or by bus. You have more of a chance of dying from bordom than from any military action. |

Yeah, the initial NK air strike will go over you and land in Seoul. You're not a target. Unfortunately, should the NK ground forces invade after the initial strike, I figure they'll get to about Paju before the US and ROK air forces decide to make your whole area into a smoldering parking lot!
Enjoy! |

Pffft. Cruel of you to tease him about the USA bombing Paju... that's not going to happen.
NK's got nukes, and mal-nourished midgets. They won't send foot-soldiers until after the entirety of S.Korea is glowing. You won't die from friendly fire up there. Even if NK shot off nukes, they'd aim for Seoul. In Paju, you'll die slowly from radiation poisoning, as you glow in the dark.
I'm sure that will make your mother feel much better. |

Paju is the town about a ten minute bus ride from where I live in Ilsan. Having lived here a while, gone to the DMZ, and hiked in North Korea, I can assure you that there isn't anything to worry about.
Paju is a little rural, but it's very close to a new major city (Ilsan-Goyang) and is a very short ride to Seoul. I agree with what other posters said, if you wouldn't be scared to live in the capital of Seoul, you shouldn't be worried about living in Paju. |

I'd be more worried about my proximity to Paju English Village and being nuked by roving bands of psychotic, functionally illiterate 'edutainers' and eastern European cafeteria workers, than by the North Ks. |

Wearing camoflage clothes and darkening under your eyes with that cork stuff is probably advisable in either case.
Besides, I've read that now that the real S. Korean right wing is in control of the government, they want to kick some commie butt (along with privatising our health care into an American-style system. Now, won't that be some Dickensenian fun?) |

It's only about 30 minutes to Seoul. But the rest of this is right. |
