YEAH! My very first post!
Here's the situation: my wife is German, but a fluent English speaker. However, she is without CELTA, DELTA, or whatever other "ELTAs" Smile
If I was to seek teaching employment in Korea (or Asia in general), what kind of employment would be available to my wife? Is there a way for her to become certified to teach English? If so, what would job prospects be like as she is not a native speaker?

TIA for the advice.

Rob

Under current regulations she would NOT be allowed to work LEGALLY (as an English teacher) if you came to Korea. She could probably find illegal work as an English teacher.

She WOULD be able to work LEGALLY as a German language teacher IF you found a job and IF she has a minimum of a bachelors degree from a GERMAN university.

I can't answer accurately for the rest of Asia.

The same restrictions would also hold for you (Bachelors degree from one of the 7 allowed countries).

Thanks for the reply!
There is no problem with me teaching (I'm American with a degree in ESL). She has a university degree, but from what you said, it sounds like the teaching pickins' are pretty slim. How about legal work outside of teaching?

Thanks!♦

Unless she speaks Korean, not much.
