| I definately don't look like a soldier; I'll let your imagination run on what that can mean. But, one night in Itaewon, I got stopped by some MPs and asked to see my ID. I said, take one look at me, do I look like a soldier, with a laugh. And, one of the MPs said, "Well, you could be a civilian contractor." I just laughed again, shook my head, and said, "I'm an English teacher," and they walked away. I have no idea if they were having a laugh at my expense or what but except for a minute of my time, it wasn't a hassle. |

Even if you were I believe civilian contractors and their families are not under curfew rule. |

But they are under the jurisdiction of USFK if they're here on a SOFA visa. Civilian contractors and their dependents may not be subject to curfew regulations, but there are other regulations that they indeed must follow�off-limits areas, for instance. |

Agreed, and, yes, civilian contractors can placed on curfew under extreme emergencies.
Wanna bet that a BUNCH of places in Itaewon are "Off-LIMITS" (like that ever stopped anyone)? |

It doesn't have to be any emergency at all. Any person under SOFA jurisdiction is subject to administrative sanctions (for example, loss of SOFA sponsorship) for violating the regulations concerning them.

I know for a fact a number of places in Itaeweon are off limits. I also know that some SOFA status people get caught there.

Well me personally - I'm British - a US army MP has no right to ask me what I'm up to going about my business in a country that is not the United States or on USFK land. Obviously, as soon as I open my mouth it should be apparent that I'm not GI - but there are lots of Brits serving in the US army so some MPs might be awkward.
I wouldn't be rude, I would demand they bring the law enforcement of the city to check my ID - the people who have the right to do that.
Thats my right as a guest worker in a country that is not the U.S.A - I know it may be a hard thing for your septic mindset to understand but you don't own the world - your pathetic warmongering attempts have failed in this respect - and I'm not answerable to US military law. Sad but true! |

What's the big deal? Show 'em your ID and get on with the night. It'll take you all of 18 seconds. Why get worked up over nothing? It's not like they're recording your name and movements.
But by all means, please: If you want to start an argument / altercation with the MPs, just let me know ahead of time when & where it'll happen.  |
