I have built up some grease around my stove.
I've bought two different spray cleaners at my local store.

The first one smells nasty, but kind of works.
The second one cost more, but doesn't seem to work as well.

They are both made by Reckitt Benckiser. I can't find anything
else in town.

Has anyone found something like Simple Green? It might
be worth a trip to Seoul.

If you have a built up of grease, you need to leave the detergent on the stove top for a while before you can wipe it off. You can't just spray it on and then wipe it off... doesn't work like that.

PB-1 works like a charm on most anything. It's a "concentrated all purpose cleaner and degreaser". I don't live in Seoul so I'm not sure where you can find it. I got it at a Belmonde (grocery and misc.) store. But you may find it at a hardware store.

PB-1 is great for washing your hair as well.

For the bathroom, the best stuff is called Home Star (it's in Korean). It is in a green bottle. I love it. It doesn't have that "burn out your nostrils" chemical smell to it. It smells like green apples and does a great job on tile and sinks.

Buy a bottle of cheap cheap vodka. Use that and salt. It will strip paint in some cases, certainly degrease.

Try some of those orange oil cleaning sprays and let it sit for a few minutes/hours. They are really good at cutting through the grease.

Also, I can highly recommend those white foam 'magic sponges'. They are very expensive at home but cheap here (1000 won shops etc). Just wet it and it will clean marks off that you will not get with any spray! Great for walls and furniture etc.

You can buy a bottle of ethanol at most chemists (drugstores). It will get through the grease, just don't sniff too much of it...

There's one by Easy-Off called "Bang Bang" or something like that (you have to read Korean for it). It's in a purple bottle. Works like a *expletive*.

Do NOT breath in the fumes / mist.

And next time - don't let the grease accumulate and got "cooked in". If you get to it right away, plain dish soap and a scrubby sponge will take it off. Wink
