Personally, I have found that cash and the hotel's front desk safe is just as safe and far more convenient that travelers checks of any flavor.
You are aware that if you have a loss/theft with Korean traveler checks you will not be able to get a refund or assistance until you return to Korea?
This alone makes them almost pointless for travel.

Get yourself a Samsung credit card if you are at a public school.
Otherwise just travel with rolls of cash.
Roll it up tight with an elastic band and hide it on yourself or in your bags.
My first big adventure across the world I had 3000 quid hidded about me, 5000 in travellers cheques and another couple thousand dollars sewn into my small bag.
Never worried about having money on me. |

carry rolls of cash in your bag? sheer stupidity!
sure, the hotel safe is quite secure but what happens if you lose your cash between the time you initially fly out and the time you arrive at your hotel?
simple solution. carry american express cheques which can be gotten at most korean banks. the fee is a little steep but well worth it. you'll also get a slightly better exchange rate with TC's. |

we looked into getting korean travellers checks and if we were to loose them or they got stolen, we would have to contact a korean bank. how does it work with american travellers checks? is there a number you contact that is reachable anywhere in the world at any time?
thanks! |
