So, my gas bill for this month was in the order of W250,000 and my water was W300,000. I have no idea why. I did have a water leak that wasn't my fault, and the land lord fixed it. It explains why the bill is so high, but I don't understand why I should have to pay for something that was the fault of the property and not the fault of myself.

The gas bill makes absolutely no sense. I never use gas, my apartment retains heat very well and I don't think I ever even turned the heat on in the last couple months. I think this bill might be tacked on from the last tenant who was a foreign teacher at a different hagwon, and his boss had a nasty tendency of deducting the rates from his paycheque (and medical insurance / taxes) then pocketing the money without paying any collectors, taxes or medical.

Can I dispute this? My hagwon boss has been arguing with the land lord over both bills and the land lord is holding firm, insisting that I pay for both. I'm not sure what I should do in this situation, and spending this much money will really set me back (the land lord wants it tomorrow).

Check your meter for your gas. Is it reading the same?

Check your previous bills and see if they have been read correctly

Wow...just wow...I only paid 80,000 for gas in the coldest months. This mo 30,000. My electric bill is 12,000. I've never seen a water bill, but I think that is charged in the apt upkeep bill (water, communal electric...etc) which I pay once a year...300,000.

The bills should be dated. If they are left over from a previous tenant you would know it.

But, they can't be correct from what the OP has related. Who could use that much gas in just one mo, especially if the heating system wasn't even turned on... Rolling Eyes

Mine was over W400,000 last month. And that's for a box. Craziness.

I have yet to get any bills. I'm a little concerned. It's been over a month.

I got bills now. The gas is bigger than expected, but not as bad as the OP.
