why are quebecois called pepsis anyways? where does that come from?

It's a very, very old slur. A bit like grandmothers who call any Italians "DPs". Another very very old slur.

Right, long time ago Coke ruled the shelves of the grocery store. It was a very pricey drink. Pepsi came along and to get market share priced themselves cheaper. It become that rich people drank Coke and poor people drank Pepsi. French Canadians were long screwed out of cush government and corporate jobs and were an underclass. So they drank a lot of Pepsi. So like Americans would make fun of black people by referencing watermelon and fried chicken, English Canada would make fun of French Canadians by calling them Pepsi drinkers or just "pepsis". Yes, it's a very offensive term to people of a certain generation. Maybe even today. For the record I am half French Canadian and grew up in Montreal. Can a half black person call himself nigga? A half jew call himself "*beep*"?

DP is another funny one my pepsi grandmother would apply to the Italians in her neighborhood. DP stands for "displaced person". The DP designation was given to WWII refugees who had no ID, no home, and were brought over to Canada. Their designation was "DP" and it stuck as an insult.

thank you for the explanation!!!

i'm also a french canadian, and half italian haha! so i'm both a DP AND a Pepsi apparently Wink

They rioted after winning the FIRST ROUND??

What the hell are they going to do if they win the Stanley Cup? Detonate a nuke in downtown Montreal? Pillage en mass the nearby small cities? Trigger a tsunami?
