Quote:
MELBOURNE (AFP) - Outspoken feminist Germaine Greer has rounded on US presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, branding her as "cold," "bossy" and "manipulative" while questioning her credentials for the top job.

Australian-born Greer, here to promote her new book, launched into the candidate, saying she was unappealing to feminists as her political reputation was largely due to her marriage to former US president Bill Clinton.

"I don't like Hillary because she's so bossy and cold and manipulative and stuff, and I don't think having her in power is going to make any difference, basically, because she will have the same set of advisers," Greer said.

"I can't see that Hillary would appeal to feminists because, why is she there? She is there because she is Bill's wife, and it's a bit useless to pretend, 'Oh, it's because of her wonderful job as a senator,'" she told Australia's Nine Network late Monday.

"I just don't think it's true. When she had a big job in government, she blew it," said the British-based Greer, referring to Hillary Clinton's work on health issues during her husband's administration.

Greer, who has made headlines with provocative attacks on the likes of Diana, Princess of Wales and the late Australian "crocodile hunter" Steve Irwin, said she knew the Clintons personally.

She attacked the former first couple's marital style, saying the pair enjoyed a "confederacy" or business partnership, rather than an emotional relationship.

"They give me the creeps, from that point of view," Greer said.

But Greer said that while she did not like Hillary, who is battling fellow Democrat Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination for the presidency, she was a fan of the US president who was in power from 1993-2001.

"Everybody loves Bill. Bill is adorable and Bill is always flattering me and inviting me to stuff in Britain and we're buddy-buddy, and I like him," she said.

Greer last year called Princess Diana a "devious moron," while in 2006 she took a swipe at Irwin, saying just days after he was killed by a stingray that he was embarrassing to Australians.

She no more bossy, cold, and manipulative than any other successful politician. And it doesn't matter if she's getting help from Bill, it still forwards the feminist agenda to have a female president, and will open up the office for further females who will not need to be former first ladies.

Greer's two key points are both moot. Her attack without claws, in fact it's virtually incoherent.

Calling Clinton bossy and manipulative is kind of sexist. Funny coming from a feminist.

Y'know she's onto something here.

How many of you would be willing to bet that when Hillary loses the nomination, that Billary will divorce and she'll go back to just being Hillary Rodham?

If their relationship is strictly contractual, why does he need to divorce? Seriously.

Irwin did more to raise awareness about wildlife conservation than Greer will ever do. That feral hag publicly p1ssed on his grave while his wife and kids were still grieving.

I bet you wish you could just take Hillary out back and drown her in the local lake, don't you?

How about we all agree to leave the Karnak stuff in the privacy of our own thoughts? No one here has any privileged understanding of Hillary's motives or the dynamics of her marriage. Neither does Germaine Greer, whoever that is (I never heard of her before this thread).

Writer of 'The Female Eunuch' and late night ghoul of BBC2 art review shows. Also claimed that women shouldn't worry about rape so much as 'It's only a pen1s'. An odd feminist.

And Irwin should have been wearing sunscreen.

To protect him from the harmful rays.
