At least "Soulful Seoul" would have a nice ring to it - please forward my suggestion ...
(maybe Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin would show up for the festivities ... ) |

Soul of Seoul makes no sense (unless accompanied by videos or pictures or something).
"Soul Seoul" kinda makes sense but it's a little hard to get one's head around.
"Seoul Soul" might also work. Might be a good name for a soul bar anyway.
I think they're all better than "Hi! Seoul" though. That's pretty weak. Will the "Hi! Seoul" festival be replaced by the "Soul Seoul" festival?
Edit:
I just checked the Marmot and apparantely this:
is the new city symbol. That thing is a cocktail of 33% scary, 33% ugly and 33% crap (with maybe 1% interesting because it's such a bizarre thing to choose for a city symbol).
In fact if the Jongro-gu symbol:
...was a real animal, this Haechi thing looks like something it would have a nightmare about.

I thought they were going with "the soul of asia". That's a dead obvious one, I'd be embarrassed to charge them $1 million consulting fee to think up that no brainer and give it to them for free, but Soul Seoul? At least they didn't go with the Sole of Asia: Your city, your sweaty foot. |

I like Soully Soul Seoul, personally.
If they're going to go with a mascot that frightens children, it shouldn't also make adults laugh. |

This has to be a joke.. right?
Anyone seen that new commercial for Seoul on the Discovery Channel? Starts out with the girl and male friend in Lotte World. According to her, Seoul has bumper cars, Korean food, and some other things I couldn't make out. I've seen the commercial three or four times now and I still can't understand what she's saying. |

Just curious as to the slogans of each poster's home country/province/city.
I'm from Virginia and ours is "Virginia is for Lovers". Then they show pictures of couples on the beach, white water rafting, visiting Williamsburg, etc...
If you are gonna bash on Seoul's slogan campaign, you should at least mention the slogans from your home towns. Personally, Virginia is for Lovers is a horrible slogan for my state. I guess it beats being known for potatoes like Idaho. |

We call Van 'Hong Kouver' or 'Vansterdam,' and my hometown is known as 'Hicktoria.' Not sure what the official slogans are...let's see...Google be with me...
Hmmm. It seems my town doesn't have one. British Columbia though is "Full of Life."
Thing is, we get lots of tourists anyway. Who woulda thunk it? People coming to a place with no slogan! How bizarre.
Oh, no, wait, they're obviously coming because our Provincial slogan is so neat. |

How about
City of 'Soul'
Kind of a double meaning. And, of course, Seoul has no Soul.
How about they also replace 'sparking' with 'dimly lit' |

Last week I went to Asan. Their slogan is:
"Smart Asan" |

Surely you jest about the Smart Assan. Please tell me you are not serious.
But, for Seoul...
How 'bout "Come Ride the SEOUL Train!"
or
"Seoul Coughing?" No...that's too negative...how 'bout
"Seoul Time!" or
"Seoul Much Fun!" or
"Got Seoul?" or "Cry, Seoul! and Let Slip the Dogs of War..." But no, that's plagiarism...
How about, uh, "Rythm and Seoul?" "Seoul Music?" "Seoul Solo--Seoul Sedated--Seoul Sans Serif--Don't Sell Your Seoul--Seoul Stunning--Seoul Special--De La Seoul--Sole Seoul--So, so, so, Seoul-- So-so Seoul"...no, too negative again...oh, I know!
"Seoul-da-lay-he-Seoul-da-lay-he-Seoul-da-lay-hee-hoooooo--" and they could get some Ricolla ad cast-off to blow a big horn up on that little Alp behind the Blue House there. Yeah! Yeah...no...ok, how about...
"Seoul, Ya Wanna Be A MILLIONAIRE?"
Oh, christ on a bike, I'm done. It's all grot.
Cast my vote for whoever said "Soully Soully Seoul Seoul." |
