I was wondering, in this situation, are there any consequences?

I was working illegally in Korea but I had to leave suddenly. My boss was threatening legal action, but since I left, are there any ways I can get into trouble?

Are you outside of Korea? If so, I guess they can always refuse you re-entry, but your boss will face much bigger problems, should immi come knocking.

I don't know if you had read that post that got deleted a while back, but my boyfriend was abusing me so I had to run. I'm now back in my home country, but I have heard that he is trying to do something "by the law".

If you're reported to Immigration for having worked illegally, the most they can do is put a "black mark" on your Immigration file. That might lead to difficulties in getting a Korean visa in the future, or at worst result in your being denied entry at the airport.

From the sound of things, however, you'd be crazy to come back here anyway. So don't sweat it; there's nothing your ex-boyfriend, your ex-employer, or Korean Immigration can do to you back in Canada.

As an aside... you say you've "heard" that he's trying to do something "by the law." For the love of God, you're not still in contact with this schmuck, are you?!

No, I'm not in touch with him, but I am in touch with some of my friends in that town, as well as some of the coworkers there. We were close friends.

short answer: no.
Working illegally (assuming it was teaching and not something involving organised crime, drugs etc) is a visa violation and is typically punished with a fine and/or deportation. Hell would freeze over long before you were extradited to Korea (assuming Korea has an extradition treaty with Canada) to be fined and subsequently deported (sounds absurd, it is).

It is unlikely, but possible, that you "may" be blacklisted/have some trouble if you ever wanted to enter korea again, but apart from that, consequences are nought. If I recall your post, your boss was a friend of your boyfriend, If they tried to get a black mark against your name, your ex-boss would face the law, while you sit freezing your buns in Canada.

Put Korea behind you and get on with doing whatever Canadians do when not here. Ignore any contact from your ex-boss, he'll eventually go away. Laugh at the damage you caused his business by running away.

Your boss knowingly employed an illegal worker. He would be a fool to try to take any sort of legal action against you. He would only be opening himself to all sorts of scrutiny from Immigration and Labor, not to mention the tax, pension, and health insurance services. Rest easy, your boss isn't going after you.
