|

Hi,
I've searched around a bit but been unable to find any advice regarding this specific kind of situation, so forgive me if it's all been done before.
I've been in Korea since 2006 and working at my current hagwon since October 1st 2007 (E2 Visa). For reasons that are not relevant to this question, I'm not enjoying it much and am keen to leave. That aside, I'm also trying to move into a university position at the start of September. That means I'll need to leave my contract early. I intend to give full notice and hopefully leave on good terms and all that. If timing works out, I should finish up here at the end of July and have a month free before starting a new job. I have somewhere to live and am saving the pennies, so thats not a problem.
However, I have a few questions about what follows, visa-wise.
1. If I have been at my current workplace for 10 months, do I need to do a visa run or can my visa be transferred to a university job? I know it can be done for public schools, but I don't know about uni positions.
2. If my current director cancels my visa, how long can I request to stay in the country to try and sort out a new visa before I'll be booted out? And in that case, I guess I must do a visa run?
3. Does anyone from the UK know if the basic Disclosure Scotland check is being accepted or not? Lots of rumours but nobody able to say for sure...also, do I need to get it notarised in the UK or can I just get it stamped at the embassy here?
I'm not even at the stage of handing in my resignation yet but I'm just wanting to be well informed of what happens when I finally get out of this place. Don't want to mess anything up and have to leave the country long-term.
I may remember more questions later, but for now, thanks for any answers in advance. |

1) maybe - depends the immigration officer you get on the day you apply.
2) 30 days and yes, you will need a visa run if your current visa gets canceled.
3) sorry, I don't know. |
