Feel free to delete / move comments if this has been done but I did not see it and I think it will have a Generally bad effect on "teachers'" images here.
In truth I sent the email to my slacker bud who is a snow board bum - with a good heart - and too lax to graduate... and yes I would guess if he does get severe flack from his elementary school he will pack up and go to Thai Land for a Backpack adventure...
I fear too many slackers will apply and/or just see it as a 6 month vacation that may or may not work out... country folk who entertain them will surely become disenchanted with their epicurean slacker attitudes that saw them ungraduated... then again there may be some bushy tailed 20 year olds who WILL graduate and have some dedication but just don't have a four year degrees yet who will delight the small country kids. But, I am afraid I predict more than a few quitters in this bold unedumacated dergreed pedigreed pogrom of English Genocide.

This is Chang-eun Kim from TaLK Office, NIIED.
Some of you might remember me since I had been the Director of EPIK Office until last February, 2008.
I would like to take this opportunity to send my warm regards to you and also to thank you for your contribution to Korea's English education.
Today I am writing this letter to introduce a new program called TaLK (Teach and Learn in Korea) for English native speakers and hope you will be willing to spread the information among your family members, friends, and other acquaintances who might be interested in travelling to Korea to teach English on Korean Government Scholarship.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Korea affiliated with National Institute for International Education Development(NIIED) is inviting undergraduate students who have completed two or more years of university education to experience and learn about Korean culture.
Participants will receive Korean government scholarships and teach English in after-school classes in elementary schools while enjoying cultural experience programs. Recipients will be placed at schools in rural areas in need of greater exposure to English and teach the language by forming one-to-one working partnerships with Korean university volunteers.
There are many benefits including a monthly allowance of $1500, return-trip air ticket, housing allowance, and a fully-covered health insurance.
The preparatory orientation will start on August 4, 2008 and last for four weeks until participants are placed in schools. There are two options for contract term; one is for 6 months, and the other is one year.
Application deadline is June 15, 2008 and for more details please visit our website http://talk.mest.go.kr.
Thank you for your cooperation in advance!
Wish you all the best,
Director, Chang-eun Kim

Does this mean that people with 2 year diploma's from college's can do this, or only people from Universities, who would have to take time off from school to do this, or have completed 2 or more years then dropped out? |
