|
|
Hi, I'm going to the Philippines for 6 weeks in the summer and I'd like access to my money in my Daegu Bank account. It is a cirrus/maestro card. They claim it will work in the ATMs but I have my suspicions. Anyone know? |

It is a definite maybe until you try it and know for sure.
DO NOT depend on it as your only source of funds. |

I see. I'm guessing a Samsung VISA credit card will be fine? |

My Samsung CC worked find as a CC but I could NOT withdraw cash against it from a machine. You should be able to get a cash advance from a VISA affiliated bank over the counter if you are desperate. My Woori-bank CC also works fine as a CC but also NOT for machine cash advances.
My international Woori ATM (Cirrus) card worked at SOME banks and NOT at others. ATMs are hit and miss at the best of times and you should never depend on it until you have tried and tested it (and always have a back up plan in case it ceases to function for some reason (mag-strip dies, bank changes, etc)).

Why don't you go to the main office branch and have them check it out. It's got a stop named after it on subway line 2 between Banwoldang and Beomeo. |

Nope.... I have a Korean (international card) that I know works in the Philippines and it only has a 4 digit pin.
You, like many, have been given (and paid extra for) an international card that does NOT have the international privileges enabled.
Like I said earlier... take your card but do NOT depend on it. Have plan "B" and plan "C"ash as well.
