I used a notarized & apostilled copy of my diploma to get the job. I was happy that worked!

But my school has sent me an advisory saying that I need to take my diploma as Immigration can ask to see it at any time. I know it would be good to have it if I was looking for another job, etc. But I'd prefer not to take it at all.

If I have to, I have to, but anyone else have any experience with this?

You take it there, they look at it, they hand it back.

If you do (you shouldn't) give it to your boss to take there, and he or she doesn't return it, do not accept any excuse that they kept it. They don't keep it.

I would order another diploma from the school, since the diploma tends to be damaged on the trip over, when it was apostilled, etc. It won't be very expensive to get a replacement, but it will be better than getting the original back.

One of the big things to learn when filling out forms coming over to Korea is that you can only assume the most idiotic. If they need one photo, bring a couple extra. I learned very quickly that with all the red tape it helps to be prepared and to ask questions many times to make sure they don't make a mistake that screws you up.

take it with you but never show or give it to your employer. I took mine with me and during the multiple degree checks I still didn't show it to my employer.
