Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows any good websites for doing internet tutoring. I'm back in the States and need to make a little money, but don't want to bust my buns at 7-11 for $7.50 an hour . . . thanks . . .

Contact this guy. He had a post up the other day about cyber-teaching etc, but I think it was taken down.

Not sure why I'm helping him out really as he called me an asshole because I said that cyber-schools are shit.

You might try something like www.myngle.com or use www.ether.com Myngle I don't like and won't survive. (uses skype and there are several other sites using skype to connect learners/teachers -- but those are free livemocha, languageexchange, my happy planet).

This site you can register through ether and get people calling you, but you'll need a basic html page. http://elavidnet.ning.com/profiles/friend/list

What I'd do is get your own clients and then just arrange payment through paypal and use our free chatroom at EFL classroom 2.0
http://host1.gchats.com/eflclassroom/ Safe, totally private. Great streaming of video . You might also consider using Tokbox for video teaching http://eflclassroom.ning.com/wpage/tokbox I like their technology and this might work.

I'm just too busy but am developing flash video chat rooms. Users will join rooms based on interest to talk in voice/video/type. Free first 30 min and then paid. Teachers can use the rooms to hook up with students. Stay tuned but the basic model can be seen at www.meepe.com but the rooms will be totally different. This will be a big part of the future of EFL teaching.

Interpark.com runs a tutoring hookup service. Not sure how it works, but they have a load of teachers working out of N. America and Europe.

Good luck with the transition back.
