im sure this has been covered, but i cant find it....
no one can ever seem to give me a straight answer so if someone here can PLEASE help me I would really appreciate it....

I am canadian, and work at public school. My contract ends in the middle of september but i am re signing and staying at the same school for another year.
My contract for this year gives me a two week trip home for the last two weeks of my current contract....
So, how do I get a visa for the new contract year so that I can return to the country? My school showed me what I need and basically it was just passport, alien card, fee and some documents from my school. No mention of police check, health check and whatever else....

My school says that we will sign the new contract three weeks before the old one expires, buttttt it will be summer vacation! AND I will be in Canada....so I am stressed about when and how I will get all of this done. Anyone who has done this already, please please pm me or reply to this post.....

It s not a big deal. I renewed with EPIK in spetember also.
Doesn't matter when you sign the contract, just as long as it's done before the old one expires. A new visa is sipmly a matter of a trip to immigration with yoru documents and maybe 30,000 won. Again, easy-peasy.
Do not expect to take those two weeks while classes are in. Some people do, some dont'. I don't. It's hard enough to treated as a professional without pissing off during the school year. If you take your home leave, make sure you keep your tickets. The school pays for those.

You wont need a police check, but you will have to do a medical. Not as a condition of the contract, but sometime early in your new contract. I renewed in September, and did my physical in December.

what do you mean you get a health check, but not as a condition of the contract?

i read somewhere that anyone renewing after march 1 would have to submit a police check, so i got one just in case.

Public School teachers, Koreans as well as foreigners, have to get a medical check every year.

Doesn't anyone that signs a new contract after March 15, 2008 (whether it is with a new school or re-signing with your current school) have to submit a CRC and medical check to satisfy immigration?

I can't speak for the PS system, as I don't start working there until August. I am in the process of renewing a contract for only 2 months with my Hagwon, and I have had to submit both the CRC and the medical exam to immigration. There were no ifs, ands, or buts about it. That is what immigration wanted, even though it is with the same school that I have worked in for 2 years.

Wow. Korea....I have no words. Getting a new CRC from a country you haven't been to in a year.... then again, some people can find a passle of trouble in their two weeks at home....

Once again let's all remember that Mr. Lee is a worthless pile of shit.

And yes. Racist. I'm not saying all foreign teachers are like......
