My s.o. and I are looking for jobs in Changwon for August. We e-mailed all the schools in Changwon with our resumees, but no bueno. We've been contacting people from seriousteachers.com, I posted an ad on Craigslist, and we've been checking a number of forums, but it seems there's not much in Changwon posted. What is the best way to go about getting a GOOD job in Changwon? What websites am I missing? Should we call the schools instead of e-mail? Please help!
Also, I keep hearing about EPIK, and I'm confused as to whether or not everyone MUST go through them since they are a part of the Korean Ministry of Education. I mean, I've heard that people go through a recruiter which goes through EPIK or one of those other four-letter programs, and I wonder if that's what everyone is supposed to do. Sounds too round-about for me.

From the sounds of your post I would suggest that you do the FAQs.

and don't forget the contracts:

EPIK is the public school program and then their are hagwon private school jobs which are the most common first year job as they offer a job that includes foreign co-teachers who can show and tell you lots if you can get some of their time.
Try the recruiters such as KimnJoe.com Recruiters are very helpful as it is necessary to have someone hook you up as they taught me in a university class on doing business in Asia. It's just tough to directly connectg with an employer with a cold call or email. It takes a 3rd party (recruiter or acquantance) to get there.
Try clicking checking the job board on this site by clicking on JOBS and looking and you will find a few...
Good luck. |

Here's the recruiter I used for my present position. http://uni.nayana.com/~getscenter/index.htm
The 'location' page is not up to date. However, I'm positive there will be many openings for Changwon in September. You will get a standard EPIC contract and be able to pick your (main) school. Most recruiters cannot facillitate this.
It's still a 'crap shoot' unless you are already here and can visit the school.
Remember - recruiting is a business and their main objective is profit, not your welfare.
Good luck! |
