As was mentioned in another thread, this game has been remade in several different versions. I have only tried one so far, but it is outstanding. If you liked the game, are into retro gaming, or even into freelance games period you should really check this out.

It's almost exactly the original game but in new engine so the ship models and such look a lot sharper. I forgot how truly outstanding this game was at the time. In my mind it's actually superior to todays games in several areas.
For example: Thought I had a glitch where my afterburners weren't working right, was about to report a bug, then found a "tune up" available in the repair section. Sure enough, after that they were working just like new. Stuff like this makes it feel a lot more complete than Freelancer etc. in my mind.
Warning: The game only has one difficulty setting and its on the hard side. Also found out the hard way that if you fail one of the story line missions that's it. No second chances. |

I think I might have to invest in a joystick...
By the by, another WC remake place is www.wcsaga.com
Wing Commander Saga...they seem to have a "prologue" finished and are working on the main remake. I've not downloaded anything yet but the pictures look amazing.
They seem to be making steady progress and they're making a real effort - movies, original new voice actors, composing new music, the whole shabang. Definitely worth checking out. |

Cool, another interesting project.
And you can control the Privateer remake with a mouse, but it would definitely be more fun with a joystick. I might stop and see what they have next time I'm near yongsan. |

+1 on the joystick. I've played both Privateer I and II. Great game! |

I just about beat Wing Commander Privateer on my 386. It was incredibly choppy -- the crosshairs moved about an inch at a time. Then I upgraded to a 486DX33, and the game was much more fun. I replayed most of the game about a year ago using the new freeware Vegastrike, and it was quite fun. |

actually there's other settings but you need to unlock it. I forgot how to do that. Check the forum on the site. |

Anyone got some good trading routes? All the ones I seem to be able to find are either not in the same system, filled with retros, or only 1 way profit.
I need something in-system where I can get a decent profit both ways and no/very few retros. (Anyone else I can get on my side) |
