OK I'm curious...

For those of you with co-teachers, how much of your lesson do you teach? How much does your co-teacher contribute?

for a rare few...99-1 with korean teachers present

After 9 months, I'm so effin tired. Yesterday was worst when I got too physically rough with a kid.

At my job it great. We really emphasize "TEAM" teaching. So 50%.

But what I really like about having a co-teacher is that they control the kids. When I am by myself, the kids can be hard to teach.

After three years with the same co-teacher, we have a very efficient system that works very seamlessly. My co-t teaches two out of four days while I assist with the language lesson, and I teach two out of four days while the co-t assists me. We have worked together long enough and taught the same curriculum for three years so it is common that I know what the co-t is going to write and say so I can fill in the blanks where they are needed. The same is true of when I instruct.

I feel this is the most "cooperative" situation that could be designed for our particular high school. It certainly wouldn't work in other places, but our students quickly become used to the different teaching styles and respect each of us for what we offer to them. My particular focus is more on listening / speaking while to co-t uses their time to present grammar and other features of English that are needed.

Academic HS: 100-0 (often no CT at all)
Vocatinal HS: 80-20 (I'm lucky and have a pretty good CT this year for my two vocational classes)
MS: it can be anywhere from 100-0 to 80-20, depending on if the CT can make it and what kind of lesson I'm doing.

You don't have an option for me. I plan and teach my entire lesson and let the co-teacher know when he/she is needed. They are my assistants, but I also am highly respected and have a great system in my school.

Mine uses me mostly to read things and help with pronunciation.

Makes my job pretty easy. I'm not about to complain.

Depending on the class and the co-teacher, I do anywhere from 50% to 100% of the teaching and discipline. I often wish my co-teachers would help out a little more--especially in the discipline department. They do support me and give me help when it's needed though, so I have no complaints!

I do like 80%, the coteacher does around 20%. All she does is use the green board to have the students read sentence/word cards. I could do that too, but I felt like she needed to do SOMETHING in the classroom.

I have 5 different co-teachers each with different grades and agendas so team teaching is a little out of the question. Coordination can be difficult at times as well.

I teach 96%. They'll translate when I need them to, and at the start of the class they bring it under control, plus they tell me the class's general ability level so I know which sub-lesson of mine to run. They handle the bulk of the discipline, though I mete out justice as I see fit as well.
