I got my ARC in Nov 2007, left in Feb 2008 due to family reasons. I never returned my ARC when I left. Now I'd like to go back either in August or next year around Jan or Feb. Will this cause me problems? If I have a release letter from my school will it be ok? |

Bring it with you and return it to immigration, but I believe it canceled when your first job gave you the letter of release. You will have to re-apply for another ARC when you begin your next job anyway. ttompatz may have other information, but I am fairly sure this is correct. As long as you come with your passport that is all you need. If you have a letter of release from your employer and are going to a new job everything should be in order. You are not going to be bothered by the immigration people at the airport unless they have you on a list, which is doubtful. |

Guess I'll have to get a release letter then. Do they give it to me or immigrations? |

The release letter is given to you. Considering you left on legitimate grounds there is no reason they should not issue you a letter of release. Simply contact the former employer and request one. This way you have proof that you just didn't run off from the job. After your visa expires it is less of a concern, because unless you have been put on an immigration checklist the visa simply expires and you are free to seek other employment. |

GUess I'll need the release letter. Or I'll have to wait until next year, which might be more feasible due to immigration stuff here in Peru. |

When I re-entered ICN, after leaving prior, without turning in my ARC, the woman at immigration sweated me, telling me where was my ARC. She was pissed, but I played it off--acted as if I didn't know I was supposed to turn it in upon leaving. She let me in Korea...
Bring that ARC with you--bet on immigration asking for it back. |

Surprised they didn't ask you for it when you went through immigration at the airport upon leaving.
I remember once I left a shitty job early - did all the right things - went to immigration in Seoul with my soon--to-be-ex-boss to cancel my contract with a LOR. They asked for my ARC, so of course I gave it to them. When I got to the airport they asked for it. I told them that I already gave it to immigration in Seoul. They wouldn't buy it, so they made me sit in the immi office at the airport while they faffed around on the computer and all that. Almost missed my bloody flight.
Seem to remember that the check in guy wouldn't check me in until I either showed my ARC or got a note from immi saying everything was cool. |
