Britain would have lost without the United States in WWII, with or without a Russian victory on the EFastern Front. It simply didn't have the manpower or materiel. |

Our fate was decided before the intervention of the United States into world war II.
I will definetley say that we would have come unstuck if it wasn't for the commonwealth - especially Canada and India.
America supplied us with weaponary and food and made a huge profit into the bargain - Simple as that. |

God (not that I think there is one) will certainly not save bush nor his administration you clown.
Ps everyone posting here as though they themselves are America or Britain or Wales or whatever - you are idiots. You have had nothing whatsoever to do with any countries position in the world or it's victories or anything else, you were just born there because that's where your Dad shagged your Mum. The countries are run by 0.1 % of the richest and most powerful and you and I are just little specs that feed their positions through our little efforts that we call work. You are not that important you silly English teacher. Just to put it into perspective for ya
Now get back to the classroom and babysit a bunch of elementary school kids that think you're a dirty alien and then go home to your shoebox apartment and eat ramyon.
Thanks

Americans really don't like each other internally but if another 9-11 happened we would unite and get those mf's. Rednecks and hippies would unite!!!
|
Do any of you for a second think the militiary industrial complex is not sinister enough to stage another 9/11 , or at least let it happen ? Already they are quite happy to sacrifice the lives of American soldiers and Iraqi civilians to secure weapons and oil contracts in Iraq. This is how the real world works kids ...wars aren't fought because of higher ideals (the poor soldiers may believe that , but the instigaters certainly don't) or altriustic
motives ....greedy sociopaths rise to power under false pretenses and the stupid support their money making agendas like sheep. You'd be forgiven if this happened once in a while , or that it was blatently obvious ...but it's been happening for hundreds of years and is totally self evident you hopeless knobs.
It is in fact probable you will see a 9/11 type event...probably involving a "dirty bomb" or something around the time of the US election to bring the "will for war" back into the american psyche. There's a lot of money gone into buying politicians who certain people won't be happy to see lose influence....not that it matters.....they are all bought, it's just whose money and interests they represent that changes.

Sorry.......I don't buy into the whole "God Bless America" thing like I did before I left......because I got to see how America and how Americans are percieved overseas. Not just in Korea, but in many other places.........
FEMA is there to assist in desaster relief. But it doesn't help much if they don't do anything until all chaos breaks loose....it took FEMA and the federal government 4 DAYS until they decided to get off their buttocks and help the people of Louisiana and the Mississippi Delta..............
I feel the US needs to get itself in order before helping others........how good of an image does the US project if they still have people living below the poverty line?.............. |

You know the story about the 'eye of the needle and the rich man' I'm sure they taught you that in bible school and I use that biblical story in regards charity - the rich man giving a ton of money isn't a big deal - we all know charity based on GDP is a fairer yardstick on who is generous and who is not. |
I'm not in the mood to get into an argument about statistics. We'll both find links that justify our claim. However, being "generous" and "not generous" is a continuum, not a sum-zero. The United States is by any measure generous. The sticking point seems to be if it is 1) the most generous or merely 2) one of the most generous. Either way, the government and people give a huge chunk of money.
This is rather silly, anyways. There is a great deal of academic literature about the extent to which "development aid" actually stunts the growth of states. I refer you to the work of William Easterly, if you read. If you don't read, below is a link to an audio file of an academic'ish debate on the topic.
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=17095866
To summarize, charity may be keeping poor nations poor. Or, more specifically, some charity, or some types of charity. It is very likely that development aid does very little to develop states and that food/textile donations actually stunt growth. Medical aid, if properly given (that is, not jacked by the military like in many African states, Burma and North Korea) is the most beneficial.
Or, the whole discussion is moot without nuance. What good is aid from Sweden if it actually retards economic progress?
I've never been to bible school. I, like all other thinking humans, am atheist.

All right. You all can get back to the "which country is better" pissing match you participate in when not pondering applications to whatever distance education efl grad program has pulled your interest this week. |

America is like a big overgrown teenager. It lashes out emotionally without thinking things through. It has an over developed sense of self importance and an underdeveloped sense of empathy and it's irrational and clumsy. It has very poor people skills , doesn't know what it wants to be and has a huge chip on its shoulder.
