So I'm working at a PS and my pay day is the 25th of the month. Contract says if the 25th falls on a weekend/red day I get paid the preceding business day. So the 25th was Sunday, I should have been paid Friday right?
Anyways, I went to the bank on Friday (had to clear time with the school as my bank...or any other isn't in my school's small town). and sent my money home. Didn't check my balance. Came home and checked my balance online and wasn't paid. I assumed the "preceeding business day" was a misunderstanding and they'd pay me on Monday, no biggie. Wasn't paid yesterday...meant to check with them today...but didn't have a chance, wasn't paid today...
Anyways, first thing tomorrow I'm going to speak to them. My question is, do I just inform that I haven't been paid and can they rectify the situation... or should I display my disgust.. |

If it's not happened before just politely mention that you didn't get paid. Look quite forlorn as you mention that you've been eating mice all weekend because of nil cash, and not even fresh ones, the ones that the cats left behind. But if it happens again next month then throw a grenade in the admin office. |

No don't show them any weakness by whining saying you have been getting by by the skin of your teeth without pay. Be polite, but firm with them. They will respect you more and they will pay you. Otherwise, sit in class with earplugs but ignore your students and read a book instead. Write on the board in big letters "It's time to party." Erase it when they pay you. |

Public school - the book-keeper screwed up because YOUR payday and the school staff's paydays are on different days.
Politely inform them that your pay is late and you would like it fixed today please.
If you don't have your money by the next morning, call your EPIK/GEPIK/POE liaison and complain loudly.
Missing it once is a mistake. Not fixing it ASAP after being notified is disrespect on their part. It is not a financial or cash flow problem (like it could be in many hakwons) so there is NO excuse for any delay AFTER they are informed that they are late.

Haven't read any of the other replies, but the answer is nonetheless very simple. Politely tell them that there must have been some sort of misunderstanding and that you should have been paid on Friday since that was the preceding business day to your payday, the 25th. Being polite and matter-of-fact will get you a lot further along than being accusatory as you hopefully already kinow.
My school missed paying me on Dec. 24th (the 25th being a holiday). When I pointed it out, they apologized and mentioned that the comptroller had gotten very busy with end-of-the-year accounting and had inadvertently missed it.
A month or so latter I mentioned that they had started forgetting to give me a pay receipt on payday and they've gotten back on track with that. |

My main school forgot to pay me once. I called them on the day of & all I got were giggles and told "ok." Nevertheless, it was there the next day and the administration girl apologized profusely. Didn't understand about the INSANE giggling though...
My 2nd school has to pay a transportation allowance..they've often forgot to pay. It's partly my fault as I always forget to sign in. I think they've paid on time...ONCE. No biggie. They always feel bad about it and give me somethign extra |

Sign of extreme embarrassment on her part for missing something that important. |

Same thing happen to me last week-end, I wasn't paid on the 23. I was at my home school on Monday and the school accountant came to me and
apologized.
If the Native teachers had the same payday as the Korean teachers, then I don't think this problem of being forgotten will occur as much. |

My public school forgot to pay me once. I dont update my bankbook very often or pay much attention to my balance but 2 or 3 months later I caught it. I tried to bring it up in a calm "mistakes happen" kind of tone but the VP wound up getting livid at the poor girl who worked in the admin office. I felt sorry for her. The office has been ultra-conscientious ever since. |

ttompatz is obviously someone who'se taken the time to read up a bit on Korean culture. Giggling and laughing nervously are traditional responses that indicate embarassment. |

Where do we get these people?
The 25th is a Sunday. You get paid the next business day. If the next day business day is a public holiday, then you get paid after that. Kapish? |

So, is this statement intended to be forwards, backwards, convoluted, sliced and diced, or . . .
Just wondering since you started out with an insult and an eye roll.
Oh, and since your statement is the exact opposite of the contents of the PS contract (i.e. the facts), one wonders what you're really up to with your insults.
I guess one question is where do "we" get you from?

hmmm.... not at a public school.
The PS contracts specifically state that you get your pay on the 25th of each month OR the business day immediately PRECEDING the 25th if it should happen to fall on a weekend or holiday.
3.보수는 매월 25일에 지급한다. 만일 이 날이 근무일이 아닌 경우, 그 전날에 지급한다.
3. Employees salary shall be paid on the twenty fifth (25) of each month. If this day falls on a National Holiday, Saturday or Sunday, the salary will be paid on the immediately preceding business day.
