Uncle is my 19th foster dog in Korea and funnily enough, he wins almost all the superlative awards:
*loveliest (yes, my favorite)
*most affectionate
*most timid
*most surprising (timid, yet playful Laughing )
and.......
*most conventionally unattractive.

The thing is - Uncle is called Uncle for a reason. He came from the Daejon shelter a few months ago and was being fostered together by a lovely American woman named Minh. Anyway, he was fostered with another dog called 'Granddad' - both named this way because they do in fact look like old-man dogs, although they are actually quite young. Uncle is about 4 years old but still gangly and think enough to sometimes be mistaken for a young dog (until you see his teeth that is lol). Yes, maybe you can see in the pics, his teeth are crooked, but I think that this only adds to his charm. Of course, whatever he lacks in looks he MORE than makes up for in personality. He is just one of the the sweetest dogs I've ever met and doesn't have a bad bone in his body. He's always happy to see me when I come home and is waiting by the door every time to greet me with tail wagging. And the funny thing is - all his little eccentricities and quirky appearance just seem to make him even cuter than conventionally cute dogs.

He has also come a long way: when I first took him in he was too scared to walk and had to be carried then put down and pulled a little, then carried again. Now he is still timid at first, but after a very short time is wagging his tail and trotting along with my dog. He also does the cutest thing I've seen any dog do - when I call his name (in any pitch) he open his eyes really wide and tilts his head each way, continuously (see first pic). Makes me laugh. I don't know what else to say other than he's just the loveliest dog I've met in a long time and I am determined to find him a really, really loving home. Its quite important to me, because I'm not actually willing to give him up (I come from New Zealand and it is VERY difficult to get dogs home). Uncle has clearly been abused in the past and he really deserves a peaceful, loving environment. Anyway, if you're interested in a real dog and not some pretty-but-airheaded pedigree handbag-dog, then pm me Smile

other info:
*has up to date with all shots
*free of heartworm
*sterilized already
*less than 3kg
*very, very light eater (I'm trying to fatten him up)
*toilet trained to go on pet-sheets in bathroom
*LOVES to be held (very snuggly dog Smile

Your guy - I look at the pics - He does have a charm to him when just looking at him. I can't get another dog. I just wanted to say I think it's awesome what you foster. I couldn't do it. 19 is amazing. I got my own guy from a foster woman (Jackie). She was so cool and patient with me at the time. I was near the end of the contract and things were in limbo. Everything worked out - he's sleeping under the chair as I write this.

Thanks Wink , appreciate it. Altho, as I'm sure you understand, its not just out of the goodness of my heart lol, sometimes i wonder if I need them more than they need me! I just really enjoy animals' company. Who's this woman Jackie btw? Have you heard of the Daejon 150 group on facebook?

Dunno if you're interested but they go down to visit the abandoned dogs at the shelter every week...

Update on Uncle for anyone interested.

*Today we went all around Seoul and Uncle is just FINE on the subway. Have to admit he gets quite car sick, but subway is great he just sits on my lap no problems Smile
*is still shy but loves all dogs he's met (he took a particular liking to one girl dog today, and was a real gentleman)
*favorite food: fried eggs
*is very intelligent. Yesterday he opened the fridge, not kidding Shocked I've also had to devise a brick-on-the-toilet system because he's learned how to get his head into the toilet to drink even when the seat is down....(I'm trying to moderate his water when I'm at work. Anyway my point is he's clever)
*is very quiet. In 3 weeks he's barked once. The longer I have him the more I like him....

Uncle has settled in well with my dog and two cats - he is great with other animals and loves people.

He would make a great pet regardless of your circumstances - anyone who would like to meet him please contact me at [email protected]
