I have an Averatec laptop at school runnind a ATI 9700 Radeon graphics chip
I am getting a strange old problem with the external display.
If the TV's at school are switched to TV mode and I then plug my laptop in the TV doesn't recognise my machine. Says nothing connected.
However if I then connect another teachers laptop and switch the displays it recongizes the display straight away and switches over.
I can then unplug their computer and have my one in it's place. working away no problem.
I have installed the latest drivers. No idea what the problem is. |

Did you try holding "Fn" and pressing F3? |

try a number of function & F keys
on my averatec it's function & f5 - could be different, but I can't check as I left it at school and today is my day off. |

Yes fn and f4 is how to change it if the TV lets it.
As I said it can be switched once another computer has used the TV before.
But it doesn't switch if the TV has been in TV mode on it's own. No matter how many times I change the setting via the keys or the ATI Catalyst control panel. It needs another machine to be recognised before hand. |
