I'm betting a there's a lot of us who live in our one room apartments. But having been on my own for 10 months I think I'm becoming a little bizzare.

Like I can't function in my apartment if there is no sound, either from the street, my cd plaer or TV.

My hours have become bizzare. I cook dinner at 2am, clean my floors at 3am etc.

I don't think I have started talking to myself yet but I'm sure given time...

Yes, I like living alone. I have lived with other foreign teachers and I have lived with a Korean. The Korean is much easier to live with.

Is that weird? I do it all the time. I love it.
How can you live alone and not talk to yourself? That's amazing to me!
Even when I lived with others I talked to myself.

I've lived alone since after college. What's the big deal? I like being weird.

YES, IT HAS MADE ME WEIRD.

I've now lived in my own place (sans roommates) for nearly two years, and I can say this: two years ago I did NOT talk to myself in my own house, and now it is a frequent option of entertainment. I will sometimes catch myself laughing like a maniac at something I said to myself.... That said, it is also quite fun. It has also made me appreciate having my own space so much that I doubt I will ever have the ability to live with others (including a spouse) again! I swear, I usually can't have people over for more than 15 minutes before I want 'em out. Although I usually don't spend much time in the ol' pad, living there alone has certainly altered my personality a bit...

I don't know, everything CLG said sounds normal to me. I like to cook dinner at 2 am and clean floors at 3 am anyway. When I live alone, at least I'm not pissing anyone else off.

I lived alone here for 10 months too. It definitely sapped my morale a bit, because i was new here and spent a lot of time drinking heavily and making connections in Itaewon.
Now I don't think it would affect me quite so badly, but it definitely makes a diff to have another waegook or 2 around to chat too occasionally, however briefly.

Wait a second, what does that have to do with living alone?
Why do you want people out of your house like that?
I'm the exact opposite, I want them to party all night.

because if you get used to living on your own then it can be, surprisingly, to have your precious private space invaded. private space is very important in this here country.

I knew living alone for so long had harmed me when I found myself "annoying" my friends by calling them 3 times a week just to chat. It definitely harmed my sanity and my social life.
Ideal situation: 2 other waegooks, of similar age to you, living in separate accom nearby.

I was like that too. I couldn't stand having silence in my little appartment. Now I'm back in Australia, I love the peace & quiet.
Don't know why my attitude changed. I guess in Korea you get used to always having noise around you.

Maybe we are confused about the phrase "have people over".
To me that means you have people you know over for a visit. You have asked them over.
I think it may mean for you that they come over unexpectedly? I think the phrase is broader for you then me? Right?

If people came to my home unexpectedly I would say they "came over"
never "had them over".........is this my misunderstanding?
