I hate the smell of lamb, and I find there is not much meat for the price paid when you get lamb served.

Canadians don't eat that much lamb.

Really? I had it quite often growing up. Maybe once or twice a month.

As I said, Koreans consider lamb as western food. I've heard them commenting as such including my wife.

They don't eat it because it's western? That doesn't stop them sucking down cheeseburgers like they're going out of style.

Anyway, why don't they eat it?

Why don't you eat dog?

I don't think eating dog is "wrong," it's just not on the menu. Coinicidence, I suppose.

White people don't eat dogs because they see them as pets and working animals so they have a sentimental attachment to them. Koreans don't have any sentimental attachment to sheep (hopefully). As for it being western, it's more widely eaten in the middle east and Muslim countries. The bad smell (I thing it smells nice but anyway...) could be masked by marinading it like Koreans do with other meats.

I think the reason is just that Koreans wouldn't be sure what to do with it. It isn't in any of their recipe books. It just needs to be packaged and marketed well. Package it with a label "makes a great bulgogi alternative" with some cooking instructions and pictures and the Koreans would love it.

Koreans don't like lamb because it won't taste good if you smear gochujeong all over it.

Make no mistake, the smell of lamb puts a lot of westerners off, too. My wife can't stand it, but too many Greek Easters have made vegetarianism an impossibility in my books.

I've seen the odd restaurant that had lamb on the menu, or at least I think it's the word for lamb. Is 염소 the word for lamb???

They don't eat it because that would be like cannibalism.

Yes, cat. Some of those dog soup...excuse me, health stew restaurants also put cats in with the dog. I'm not even going to talk about the health potions.

Actually the French don't eat much horse anymore.

I think Koreans don't eat much lamb for the same reason that not much goat is eaten in the US...although goat is delish.

im not sure but lamb has seen so rare in korea.
lamb meat sounds so exotic to koreans.
and i guess they wouldn't fit to breed in korean environment.
(75% of korean peninsular is mountainious)
isn;t it related quite to nomadic culture and full green ground?
anyway im told lamb smels and tastes like dog. lol.

MBC probably ran a program warning Koreans about Hoof and Mouth disease back in the day.... I imagine it's probably illegal here now.
