It looks like Jin Kwon is dead. We saw his tombstone in the Sun's Flash forward and he got blown up on the Freighter. In There's no place like Home part2
It looks like he died with his Rolex buddy Micheal who was also in the freighter
Anybody think they might have gotten out of the freighter on time and swam back to the Island. It wouldn't be the first time they had to jump off a burning boat |

I'm not sure how you saw Jin's tombstone and missed the other part of the very same episode where he's running around buying a gift for some guy's baby.
It seems pretty clear then, that he survived the boat explosion, somehow made it to land, and has amnesia of his former life. |

This would be perfect in the Lost thread in off-topics. |

That epsiode was both a flash forward and flash back!! Sun erects a tombstone for Join because she thinks he's dead! The one with Jin looking for a panda for the baby was a flash back. Remember he said he has only been married a few weeks!!! |

Probably to a different woman than Jin. He clearly doesn't appear to be doing the same line of work he did when he worked for Jin's father. I mean, he was a hired thug. He's not about to be cozying up to diplomats or whatever job the guy who had the baby did. I can't remember, but wasn't the guy he bought the gift for Chinese or something? (Honestly, can't remember, but I remember thinking that at the time for some reason.) |

Interesting point, didn't look at it that way! Jin could be remarried. Yes, think the diplomat was Chinese. |

Even if Jin escaped the explosion on the freighter he would not have made it back to the Island because it was moved by Ben. Sure the date
on the tombstone it fixed at the crash date. That is just to protect the other survivers. Sun has agreed to go along with this at Dr. Jack Sheepards advice
Sawyer was the last person to make it to land before the Island was moved.
The odds of Jin still being alive are about the same as Charlie. Remember we never saw Charlie's dead body. |

Well, in that case, I would fall back to the old standby, deaths that happen offscreen didn't happen. |

We never saw Jack's old man(Christian) kick the bucket. Although we did see his body in the morg in Australia. We have also seen him numerous times on the Island once speaking on behalf of Jacob.
In the last few seconds of There's no place like Home #2. We see what looks like Locke in the coffin. Although the person in the coffin is not called Locke. |

Not sure exactly what you are getting at here. Do you think it's just possible, when I made my flippant remark, that I didn't mean for it to be taken quite as literally as you seem to be taking it? Perhaps, I should have said "In the absence of a corpse, or in the absence of seeing the fatal event onscreen that lead to the aforementioned corpse, then no conclusion can confidentliy be made regarding the character's state of deceasedness." Yeah, that really rolls off the tongue. |

I like programs that completely challenge my perception of reality.
Even if it is indeed a fictious reality
I'm wondering if the writers of Lost are going to pull a Planet of the Apes
on us. In the final episode. By pulling a Planet of the Apes on us.
I'm not refering to the crappy remake. I'm mean the Classic scene of the
Statue of Liberty half buried in the sand |

Who knows? It is an island of miracles.
We'll never know for sure who is or is not alive on the island until Jack and the rest go back. And they WILL go back eventually. The writers say the series wraps up with Season 6. |

There's a thread devoted to LOST - 117 pages of it. this might fit better there. |

Not unless they can swim faster than a helicopter can fly. |

Probably to a different woman than Jin
since when is jin a woman?
and why wouldnt he be cozying up to diplomats? jin's father-in-law is a businessman (with really loose ethics). jin's job is to grease the wheels of commerce, whether that means beating the snot out of some stubborn rival, or buttering up an influential man of power
the teddy bear incident was a flashback. he had been married to sun for just a few months. so that scene is not evidence that he is not dead
that said, i agree with whoever said "off-screen deaths didnt happen" (altho i believe michael is dead. the clincher is when christian said "you can go now"). we were far away when we saw the freighter explode, and we dont really know how much time passed between the last frame with jin in it, and the explosion. this is not "24". action doesnt occur in real time. there couldve been JUST enough time for jin to dive off swim just far enough away not to be killed. them not having enough gas to go back and look is just a plot device to insert uncertainty into it |
