| You have to have a card. I used my Samsung card and I just told them that was how I wanted to pay and they set it up that way in like 10 mins. Comes out of my card automatically every month. |

Thanks for the tips peoples (especially bassexpander).
The final decision was finally made for me. My parents-in-law had decided to purchase a 40in Samsung PAVV Full HD fully loaded (over 2,300,000won) for us. Sometimes married to a Korean woman has it perks . . . . |

| Good choice. Now if you want to do HD, you should buy a 40gb PS3 for Blu-ray. That'll set you back around 340,000 or so. |

Rather than post a new thread I'll just post my other question here.
I recently bought Samsung's first generation Blu-ray player BD-P1000 used at a local e-mart for W150,000. The salesman claimed it had only been used for about 6 months so I thought they probably had the demo around for a bit longer, probably 12 or 18 months. Regardless, I figured it had been used minimally since I don't see many blu-ray demos around especially at e-mart.
I did some research online and discovered that the player can be hacked to accomodate all regions for DVDs but not for Blu-Ray discs. This was fine for me but when I attempted to hack it I was unsuccessful. My question after all this is; is it possible I may not be able to hack the machine? Do any of you have this player or know someone who does? Is W150,000 a reasonable cost for a used region 3 player. I'm tempted to return it but I thought for 150 bucks it was a pretty good deal even if I can only use it while I'm in Asia. Any thoughts? |
Holy F, that's a great price ANYWHERE in the world. Does it play Blu-rays OK? I can't imagine a store selling it at that price even if they knew something was wrong with it. Somebody screwed-up! Search around on www.blu-ray.com for more info on the region thing. You not able to play Korean DVDs? Maybe it wouldn't play some discs, and they forgot to do the firmware updates to make it possible? That model needs firmware updates.
Korea is insanely high-priced for blu-ray players, but luckily, the 40gb PS3 is a great player for 340,000 won. |
