He was probably just jealous of her handbag or something.
Seriously, I feel bad for the girl, and agree that his actions were a bit much; but, after hours of dealing with a mob of pushy, loud, and agressive Koreans (*shudder*... just imagine!), the guy lost his cool and stomped one of 'em. It must have been frustrating.
These so-called "protesters" get themselves into these situations, I mean f*ck, what the hell do they expect to happen???????? |

Yeah, he lost his cool.
Just like how that other government worker a few weeks ago lost his cool when he socked an ajumma right in the face at a demonstration and someone got it on video.
No self discipline. |

You call that a KICK IN THE HEAD??
I bet that girl can kick harder than that.
I bet that girl can stomp harder than that and she probably weighs 100 pounds.
That cop gave her a love tap. I'd consider her lucky. He kicked her enough to get her to hopefully stop screaming, stop going crazy, and get the heck outta there.
If he had really stomped her hard like half of you are saying, then why wasn't her nose crushed? Why wasn't her head bleeding at some spot?
If he kicked her with "combat boots" then why wasn't her face dented somewhere?
Her head was inches from cement and she just rolled on outta there because she was covering her head from the side the cop was coming at her from.
If she got viciously kicked or stomped, she sure did recover fast.
Maybe she's WOLVERINE.
For the record, I bet my mom has hit me harder than that when I was being a brat when I was a little kid.
You wanna see some police brutality google "rodney king beating".

There's truth to that. It wasn't a hard kick, and she rolled under the bus to get away.
However, we missed the part after they cut the camera where they took turns gang raping her and beating her with aluminum baseball bats... |

There are all of these blown-up photos of people who were injured at the meat rally ... and guess what... all of them but one are of people a lot older than student age. Most of them appear to be older than 40.
I find that rather interesting. Perhaps the students who attended this had no interest in trying to rush the police. I imagine that a bunch of older anti-LMB people tried their best to start a riot to further their cause. The young people just got swept up in it. |

They're gearing up right now for a major rumble tonight. Bus & squad car cordons and barricades started going up from from 5 PM (!!) around Gwanghwamoon Intersection, and people were cussing and b1tching about having to clear out so soon.
They're saying this is the start of a "Relay Demo".
I said Relay Demo!!!!
Goes in waves, it moves, it wiggles. And it won't let up for 72 hours. |

Yes, cut the camera so we can all sip on some green tea and discuss Ghandi and Martin Luther King.
Those were surely the gentlest kicks in the head I ever did see, what on earth is she screaming about? |

Maybe you should join them? You've got your agenda and you're obviously proficient at twisting stories around. Getting knocked down next to a bus and getting knocked down next to a bus on THE WRONG SIDE OF A POLICE BARRICADE are two very different things sir. |
Right on butt face, they didn't show you the part after they cut the camera off when the cops dragged her out from under the bus and continued to kick her in the head. How about a woman getting knocked down backwards by three male cops and getting kicked in the head, irregardless of what side of the barricade it's on. This says something about lacking personal discipline.
Real masculine. Gang up, go for the girls and kick them in the head. You must get off on it. |
And you know this, how? Provide proof or stfu.
I'm no friend of the police brother but I'm not so screwed in the head to know what happens in these kinds of situations. Yeah, it sucks, but it was her choice to not protest peacefully and instead try to break a police line. |
Nah, I'm not going to STFU.
The girl is a student at Seoul National University. In the video, you see her roll under the bus as the cop, in full riot protection gear, is knocking her head to the ground, with her holding her head. Then you see a cop, in full riot gear turn to the camera and push it away, telling the person filming to turn it off.
This morning I talked about this to a business class I teach. What happened after the camera was shut off was appalling. She was pulled out from under the bus and the police proceeded to kick her in the head, as she was down on the ground. I honestly don't know why you think she was in the wrong. She is well within her right to demonstrate. |
Because he's an antagonistic pr1ck. |

Honestly, I don't give a *beep* anymore about the girl, the riot, the police, the beef, mad cow disease, etc. It's all fucked. Let people get all vagina bitchy about it. I really don't care. |

Did anyone see what happened before or after the video?
Personally, from watching the video clips on the news, I think the cop was way out of line... but I wasn't there.
I can imagine instances where such an action could make sense.
Protesters have used in the past
-broken glass
-bricks
-pipes
-incendiary bombs
-acid
-knives
One of my buds did his service on those riot squads in the late 80s. He was always willing to explain where a certain scar came from.
So, before everyone judges the cop in this instance (or the girl even), remember that we're not seeing anything close to the whole picture. |

yeah, and we're well within our rights to stick our hand under a lawnmower to check if the blade is still turning, but that doesn't make it a smart thing to do. |

Posted this in another thread but I think its even more applicable here.
Finally some justice being done on this:
http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/nation/2008/06/113_25390.html
Quote:
A riot policeman will be charged with assault for kicking a female demonstrator in the head during a rally against the government's decision to resume American beef imports.
The National Police Agency (NPA) said Thursday that they will take legal action on the 21-year-old policeman, identified only as Kim of the Seoul Metropolitan Mobile Police, for his use of violence. Two of his seniors will also be suspended from duty and four other officers will be disciplined. South Korean men can apply to join the riot police as an alternative to their mandatory military service.
The beating and kicking of the female student was shown in a video clip on the Internet, triggering public anger and seeing calls for the punishment of policemen responsible.
In the clip, Kim grabbed the victim's hair and threw her down beside a parked police bus while dispersing protestors near Gyeongbok Palace in central Seoul around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. As she attempted to crawl under the bus, Kim kicked her in the head several times. She managed to hide beneath the bus, screaming out in pain.
``Kim admitted grabbing her hair and throwing her down, but denied kicking her. But all eyewitnesses gave the same testimony, so we acknowledged his assault,'' an NPA police officer said.
The 21-year-old victim, Lee Na-rae, a student at the Seoul National University's music college, said she was hit again by another riot policeman after coming from under the bus. Police are investigating whether there was another attacker besides Kim.
``We deeply apologize to the victims and their families for their injuries and other ugly situations during the massive candlelit vigils. The NPA will directly apologize to Lee and her family soon,'' the officer said.
Lee is receiving treatment at a hospital near her school for head pains, according to the officer.
``Learning from this case police will improve manuals for the use of water cannons and shields and riot police officers will be given lectures on human rights and safety, so that such a case will not recur,'' he said.
Police have been denounced for their ``excessive'' use of violence against ralliers, including firing a water cannon directly at protestors at close range. Dozens of injured citizens filed a lawsuit against the police early this week.
Unbelievable all the scumbags in this thread defending police brutality. You should be ashamed of yourselves. |

Some of you wanted to see proof that she was attacked a second time. There you go. Someone else said that they wanted to go and take some pictures at the next one. I would be wary about that. Either way, the cop who kicked her on video was stupid and he knew he did something wrong when he brushed the camera aside.
Kicking women in the head is intolerable and I hope he gets it far worse and he probably will.. I can only think about my sisters or my mother when watching that video. |

How long before riot police have to take sensitivity training and proper stomping etiquette classes? |
