The rights to the Korean national anthem was, for a long time, held by the family of the author. Even more delicious, the family wasn't even Korean. The author married a foreigner, a spanish woman. Only a couple years ago, the family returned the rights to Korea.
Anyway, now this comes out:

As it turns out, the CBC doesn't actually own the rights to Hockey Night in Canada. Huh!
I'm not much of a fan of hockey but you grow up in Montreal and this theme song is part of your boyhood. That, Anne Murray's Snow Bird, and Gordon Lightfoot's Sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald were the three songs I missed the most when I moved to Seattle and made a point of downloading them asap when I first discovered Napster. |
