There are many reasons why homophobia is repugnant, all of which too obvious and too numerous to detail. However, the story of Alan Turing serves as a chillingly frightening example of why discrimination based on sexuality needs to die.

Turing basically cracked German codes during WWII (vital in defeating the Nazis) and is the father of the modern computer. In 1952, he was convicted of being a homosexual (homosexuality was a crime in the UK until 1967; Oscar Wilde was convicted of the same offence 50 years prior) and was offered a choice of either a prison sentence or the injection of hormones (designed to reduce libido). He chose the hormonal treatment, but took his own life in 1954.

Yeah, the world lost a genius due to stupidity. But we're slowly becoming more tolerant.

Wo, slow down. The only people we all really hate are those that sexually abuse or assault others, and they can be gay, straight, or both as they are completely mixed up individuals inside. Better not to be mixed up.

If I lived in a society where everyone had to be homosexual, yet my fondness for the opposite sex always put me in harms way, jail, or worse, I'd be pretty damned depressed.

And, I don't believe it's a choice. Not being able to change my sexuality is not a choice - like not being able to change one's melanin and skin color, so saying you hate gays is very much the same complex as falling to racism. Yet, homosexuality is a universal thing, crossing all borders and colors, and class.
If gay sexuality was a choice, why wouldn't it be much safer and far less troublesome for one to merely join or submit to the hetero institution and way of life?

While I side with the belief he took his own life, some people think he might have died by accident. Apparently he liked mixing up chemicals. Some people think he might have used the wrong spoon to stir his tea.

So, like, if a dude has anal sex with a male animal, does that make him a homo too?

Worried on this point? Just limit yourself to anal sex with female animals, and you'll be fine, just your garden variety hetero male with a thing for Bossy or Fluffy or Princess, and certainly not homo. Please, though, for godsakes don't tell squexx about it - he's already gotten himself so lathered up over the idea it's clear he'd try to horn in on your action, and who wants to prosecute that kind of alienation of affections charge? Sure, they'll find some of his DNA during the investigation, but they might find some or yours, too, and then things could get pretty dicey. Of course I'd prefer you not *beep* any animal in any hole, because that's just disgusting and can hardly be seen as consensual, but if you must, better just to keep it between you and your "lady friend."

Reading through your posts, I bet you're the kind of guy who sits around at Thanksgiving dinner and makes grandpa feel stupid for not knowing about whatever fakakta topic you bring up and you make your parents agree that you're smart, while secretly they're wondering what the hell happened to their kid. You remind me of the kid on Ken Park who strangled himself while beating off.

I say we all put a camera on squexx for as Christopher Hitchens once said:

"You find one person thundering about faggotry, and the next thing you know , he'll be down on his lousy knees."

People who must condemn others greatly, and seek to impose their way of life on others, usually do so because they have secret desire to participate.

squexx its ok for you to visit the "special" jimjilbangs up on Homo hill. No one holds it against, least of all any of the imaginary friends you may speak with on Sunday afternoons.

Well, this little screed sure goes around the world to prove that Justin Hale was right; homophobes are repugnant. Thank you for being the perfect embodiment of his point.

Agreed. Gonna add that newbie dweeb straight to my killfile:

More evidence they've lowered the bar on what they're letting in Korea these days.
