Does anyone know of any ESL events, workshops, or ANYTHING that I can use as an excuse to get out of sitting at my desk looking at my computer for 4 days the second week of July (7th - 11th) .
Anything, I just need a legit excuse. |

Are you kidding ? Getting paid to sit at our desks for weeks of the year doing nothing is what makes this job great. Sure I'd rather have all that time free , but go do some real work sometime and get some perspective. |

Get some perspective???? HaHa!! I'm trying to take a trip. What do you think this is construction work or something? When the last time you got perspective in any Korean esl classroom. Keep your thoughts to yourself player. |

One person's treasure is another person's trash. I find these times of the year to be very enjoyable. I get a lot of work done during the time my school is having finals and other activities. I do a considerable amount of research, so I welcome the breaks so I can concentrate on my academic projects.
If you are looking for something else to do, then talk to your school about it. I wish it was as easy for everyone as some of us have it, but I guess those who are wanting to do something else with their time have to find reasons to sit behind their desks at school during these quarterly episodes of testing (mid-terms and finals 2x every year)
Perhaps you can tell them you want to visit some other schools to see what their programs are like and connect with some other teachers. This is one way to network and give the school the sense that you want to improve yourself in some way. The workshop thing is a good choice, and the school will also see this as a plus for having you on board with them |

Yeah, I get enough computer and reading time as it is. Sitting here 4 days doing nothing is a waste of time and it's only half day at that. I'd like to shoot over to Japan and "get some perspective". I'd have 6 days including the weekend. |
