Due to the astronomical price rises, I refuse to pay over three million won to make some fat businessman even fatter, just so I can go home to see my mom and dad. I plan on going between August 2nd and returning on the 15th. Every travel gent I spoke to tells me the same thing "because you will be flying at peak season, you can not get a discount."

I think it's another version of "because you are a foreigner, we want to give you the foreigner price."

Well because I am in Korea, I can not book a flight on many on line travel booking sites based in the US to the US from Korea because they only deal with flights leaving from the US. Correct me if I am wrong.

I have a 16-month old nephew I have yet to see and my mom and dad are getting antsy to see me. It's been over two years now since I saw them last. I really should go home, but I might have to stay here during my vacation time because of the price increases.

Someone help me with travel website info please. I'll love you long time. Razz

don't worry, it's not a foreigner thing. all airfares out of the country are astronomically high during July 20- Aug. 25 time period. to add misery is the recent fuel surcharge/tax they've added.

my fiance and i were looking at honeymoon destinations and everything was twice as much as normal during this period. the best flights we could find were from www.onlinetour.co.kr

if you need english assistance, www.xanadu has been pretty fair with me about prices, but that was with a travel agent that no longer works there.

I looked on travelocity and I saw flights from Seoul to LAX for 1,500,000, BUT, they do not accept payment from foreign credit cards, and if you book from within the states, the person travelling has to be the same name as on the card, so I guess I'll have to fly home to book the flight? *beep* that.

GO TO bookingbuddy.com. After you input info, then click on "Kayak." There are 30 or 40 different "click on" sites available. Some don't do flights that originate out of the US, but many do.

Do NOT use Cheapoair, they are really a scammer.

I just followed the advice above, and found

1 way to SFO August 5 $1083- that was on Kayak

Round trip to SFO Aug 5, return a week later, $1706. That was on SmartFares, accessible from the BookingBuddy website.

Fares include all taxes and fees.

Took about 2 minutes

And if you don't have a western credit card, and run into payment problems, set up a PayPal account.

You can also try http://www.zuji.com. They're run by Travelocity, but the flight doesn't have to start in the US. If you click on "Other" (instead of Korea) as your country, you can search flights from Korea to anywhere in English.

Yes, it is Singapore dollars. If you look at the bottom of the site, they're registered in Singapore.

Kangsantravel was offering specials on their front page to SF or LA, I believe - may be worth a look.
