Did you know that at the start of your contract? I would never, repeat NEVER work at such a place.
Its bad enough having big windows on all my classrooms, so the director can patrol, and casually watch whats going on. Intrusive!
have you raised the issue with your boss? |

after i signed and went home for 3 weeks he changed locations of the school so i didnt know there were going to be cameras in the school or i wouldnt have signed either. I didnt find out until i was all moved in and stuff. He has an intercom system hooked up to it to. It's an aweful working enviroment. every time we raise an issue with him he says follow the rule or im going to fire you. guess how much loyalty to him i have. the answer is 0 |

The usual Korean way.. zero compromise, their way or the highway.....
I could do with a microphone in one or two of my more noisy classes though |

thats not why they're there i wish that was the reason, he'd never yell at a kid, money outta the bank u know. they are there becasue he sits in his stupid little office and watches us and if he thinks we did or said something wrong he gets the bitchty supervior to yell at us, it's like we're 9 man. |

Never happened to me. Chances are I would quit. I got offered a job at a pretty decent hawgwon my 2nd year in Korea. Good single apt. The huge problem was CAMERAS in every freakin class, in the teacher offices, in the halls, shhhhhhheeeeeeettttt prolly had them in the bathrooms too.
If you don't trust me enough without a camera, don't hire me. That is how I feel. |

I know a girl who is in the same situation except it's even worse. The cameras are streamlined on the schools websites. She's had parents call her in between classes and yell at her for not paying enough attention to her kids.
I guess I'm lucky. My boss has looked in the window like 3 times in the past 6 months, and those times to check for a missing student.
The kids do puzzles and draw/color everyday. He doesn't care and the students keep coming. |

Webcast classes...teachers should demand EBS type pay for having themselves broadcast outside the school. |

I was in a situation like this, my classes were wired with webcams and the video was broadcast over the internet. You needed a password to view it, though,so only the parents could watch it, not the general public.
He sprung this on us 4 months into my contract. It was really irritating. There would be constant complaints from the boss or parents like:
Why didn't your students have textbooks on their desks for the first five minutes of x class?
My child looks bored during your class.
Why were you sitting down during class?
Etc., etc., ad nauseum. The problem wasn't so much the lack of privacy, the classroom isn't exactly a private place anyway. The constant stream of contradictory and counterproductive complaints from parents and my micromanaging boss gave me a headache. It was pretty irritating, and I'll never work in a situation like that again. |

Every classroom has cameras. Every room has cameras. Every tree has a camera. There are cameras everywhere. Most of the cameras are either very well hidden or invisible to HUMAN eyes. But they are there. We are all being watched 24/7. They are watching me type this. They are watching you read this. They SEE ALL. They KNOW ALL.....................
.................................. THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE.............................
But even when they know that we know, we can't stop it. No matter what our reactions, they just consider it part of the experiement and continue to observe. All we can do is just accept it and play along with the charade. |

My director has cameras and monitors, but I can't figure out why.
When I was in the director's office one time, I noticed that one of the teachers was beating a student.
I motioned toward the monitor and asked, "Do you approve of this?"
The director said, "He's a bad boy." |
