You may have to do a little leg work, but you can find all that stuff (and more) in Yongsan.

Nanjin arcade across the tracks from Yongsan station and behind the blue building.

You will find everything you could possibly want along the outside wall facing away from the rail yard.

The basement of the ETLand building in Yongsan sells a lot of that, too.

This was right on. Many shops were closed, but I could still find everything I needed to try this out: Just Imagine the Uses for a Toy Like This

My public school received additional funding to revamp the English room, and the pre-packaged deals really suck. I'm 100% sure that these companies are taking advantage of the money being put out for these renovations. We were contemplating a touchscreen until we saw the price tag: 16,000,000 won, and the limited functions/interactive ability for the students. Enter Johnny Chung Lee and this wonderful gadget; it works, and if you also get a microsoft presenter 8000 mouse, you can control .ppt slides. Basically you have all the functions of the touch screen and more for under 200,000 won.

Please post all you can about this cool set-up you are making. I'd like to do the same. We have projectors at our uni, and I want to do this next year. Especcially using ppt.

You win post of the month.

Juregen was OP on this, and as said in a PM, I'm lucky to have caught this one by a "thread". A needle in a haystack for sure...

here's some info:

Works exactly as stated. I had no problems at all during the setup or first trial. Easy to do. All electronic parts can be found in the basement of ETland. I used an AUK semiconductor diode (S15313-H/S15313-HB), and hooked it up with a AA battery. To check if the IR LED works, just take a picture of it with your cell phone.

The program is just a mouse emulation, but minus the right click functions. Paired with a wireless presenter you can literally do everything but type while away from the computer.

Here's a pic of the LED info:

And here's my first pen (quite the monster):

I did not use a resistor in the circuit: just the LED, button, and battery.

I'm working on this now as well, just pricing it up now and going work on it for a summer project.

29k for a wii mote.

What was the damage on the LED's? Bluetooth dongle etc? Are you using the in built BT in your machine or an external USB dongle.

Any limitations that you have found so far other then no right click?

I got the wii mote for 28,000 on the 7th floor at Yongsan. The LEDs were around 1,000 for 5, but I bought two different types; it was no more than 2-3,000 for 10 LEDs. I'm using a BT dongle and got one for 18,000. It did come with the Bluesoleil software.

The biggest limitation is the IR reflection and where to stand when using it. At home mine worked perfectly without any changes in how I held or used the pen, but here at work (on the big screen with more distance from the wiimote) the LED is not really working like a pen. The wiimote is having a tougher time getting the IR reflection when held towards the screen (could be the wiimote placement, LED strength/reflection). Despite that, the program works well on the big screen display, and the sideways orientation tracks fine without any accuracy issues other than when the wiimote gets bumped.

Some links I've dug up so far:
