Just wondering if anyone who has taken the ferry from Busan to Japan can remember how thorough are they at the Immigration counter?

My friend needs to leave but there may be a flag on his passport or something. We aren't sure. Do they type in your passport number in a computer when you go through? Does a machine read it? Or do they just look at it and stamp it? We're just wondering what are the chances of him being stopped.

Thanks!

Yes they do. They cross check for about a minute or so. I actually found this immigration to be more stricter than the airport. I've done this trip 3 times and 2 out of 3 they have pulled me up and asked me multiple questions. Coming through the airports I have never been pulled up. Maybe because at the ferry terminal not as many people to process so they can look a bit harder. Sorry

I did the Busan- fukuoka ferry journey in October. When I was leaving Busan, everything was fine.Immigration at Fukuoka gave me quite a grilling about what i was doing, how long I was staying and all that crap.
When i got back to Busan, yes, they gave me a severe grilling about my time in Korea, why was i coming back again, how long will I be here. And it wasnt as though there were only a few people there. The room was full of people. The guy in-front of me got just as much of a grilling as me.Suppose it depends on the guy at the desk.Maybe he just didnt get any before he left for work that day!
