I just had my visa renewed for a year and all immigration did was put a stamp on my ARC. They didn't actually do anything with the visa in my passport. It's a multi-entry visa and what I'm wondering is when I go on vaca to Japan will I have to do anything with the passport visa or will I be ok to get back in the country with just the old passport visa and my updated ARC?

You are fine. There should be a note on another page that says your visa was extended and a date. Your ARC should have the new info on the back of it, too.

do you remember how much you paid?
If you only paid 30,000 won than you only have a single entry. it costs an extra 50,000 for a multiple entry visa and they should've made a notation in your passport.

if you paid the extra money for a multiple entry visa, you should go back and have them change your passport as well because when they stamp/mark the back of your ARC, it says nothing about entries in/out of korea.

They didn't do anything with the passport. I originally paid for a multi-entry. Has an 'm' next to the box for 'entries' on the passport visa stamp. But they didn't touch the passport. All they did was put the little stamp on the back of my ARC that extends my date in the 'Period of Stay' boxes. The actually visa in my passport still has my final period of entry set for July 13th, 2008. Do I need to buy a new re-entry visa if I leave the country? I didn't need to do a visa run or anything to get the extension, because I just resigned with the same school.

I have a question too. Is it possible to get a re-entry permit at the airport?

you can have a multiple entry visa done at the airport but you're better off having it done before in case your late for the plane, they're busy, etc.

once again- they should've made a notation IN YOUR PASSPORT that you have a multiple entry visa for your new visa.

when i went to immigration office to have my done, i had to ask for a multiple entry visa and they re-stamped my passport with the appropriate dates and put the "M" next to entry.
