I am applying through Worknplay for a public school job with EPIK. Unfortunately, I am having problems. When I went to Japan, the application process took a while, so I had time to do everything. With Korea, they want me to send everything yesterday, or even with my experience, it will be too late. They seem to want twice as many documents. ITS NOT PRACTICAL. Just how difficult is it to get accepted?

Through worknplay I applied to teach in Seoul, but was refused by the officials. There was a problem with the documents.

Worknplay asked me to consider a job in Pusan, with EPIK. They reassured me I would go to Pusan, but EPIK interviewed me and I am not sure now where I will go. I want to avoid the countryside.

THE BIG QUESTION:
These are the documents I sent to Worknplay. I think they were passed on to EPIK. Scanned copies of my degree and teaching certificate, my passport, my photo, my resume/C.V. my EPIK application form, 2 reference letters.

During the interview with EPIK, I was also told that I now needed to send a sealed university transcript to the Korean Embassy in London, and get my university to send a separate transcript to EPIK's office in Seoul.
I thought only one was needed.

I know the police report has to be apostilled. What does apostilled mean? Does it mean "notarised". My degree certificates, and reference letters have to be apostilled as well. EPIK also wants proof of employment.

I feel like giving up. But I feel public school positions are better. Exactly what documents are needed? Is it only possible to apply for public school positions through EPIK, or are there slightly easier channels.
The officials think my application is a little late, but I only get to use the slow computers in the library. Also, I think Worknplay didn't tell me everything. What I needed was a detailed description of the application process, and exactly what has to be done, and exactly which petty official has to receive what. Otherwise I will have to withdraw my application.

The application process is not difficult. It takes a bit of time to get things done, but that's about it. Get the list from your recruiter and check things off as you get them completed. Before you know it, you will be done.

The staff at Worknplay will be better able to help you with the steps you need to take. There is no way any poster here will know what you have or haven't processed or submitted correctly.

Why did the S.M.O.E. reject you? That doesn't sound right. What was wrong with your documents?

I've nearly finished applying. It is very annoying. I am due to start in September in Daegu, there's orientation for a couple of weeks before that.

1.I filled out the form including the medical self-assessment, it seems like they will make us do a full medical when we get there.

2.Requested 2 transcripts from my Uni, one they sent directly to EPIK the other my recruiter wanted. No mention about needing one for the embassy.

3.Wrote off to my local police hq for my criminal record, there's a 10 fee and it takes up to 40 days. I'm still waiting and it's been nearly 30.

4.Got my two sealed reference letters and also wrote to my former employer in Korea for confirmation of experience (that one has still to come). One of the two references contains confirmation that I'm expected to pass my MA in August (our graduation is not until November), the recruiter seemed to say no certificate=no higher pay level, but the lady from EPIK said a confirmation of expected success in my reference letter should be enough.

5.According to EPIK, you need an 'appostilled' degree. To do this in the UK you have to send it off to the government for legalising (about 30) after you have got it signed by a Solicitor (about 5)

see: http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/about-the-fco/what-we-do/docs-and-legal-services/legalisation/legalising

(assuming your British of course)

The recruiter wanted everything there by the end of this week. I told her what I had and she told me to send it all and that it would probably be ok, she said the jobs are allocated on first come, first serve basis so it would be best to send what I had now.

If you are going for jobs starting in September and you're from the UK, then I think you're out of time. I am praying that I am not.

Oh, and if you get your full criminal record you don't need to get it notarised, it's got official government stamps and signatures on it, it should be enough. If you were to apply for and get your criminal record check notarised in the UK, it would take about two months+!!!!
