CNN story

Quote:
GLOUCESTER, Massachusetts (AP) -- A pact made by a group of teens to get pregnant and raise their babies together is at least partly behind a sudden spike in pregnancies at Gloucester High School, school officials said.

Principal Joseph Sullivan told Time magazine in a story published Wednesday that the girls confessed to making the pact after the school began investigating a rise in pregnancies that has left 17 girls at the school carrying a child. Normally, there are about four pregnancies a year at the school.

Hmm, guess teenagers are a bit tired of the virginity pledges and figured they'd do the opposite. Wonder what people think sometimes.

And in a related report, all the children look like Principal Joseph Sullivan.

Was it all with one guy?

I wonder if publicizing this all over the news, if there will be a lot of copycat pledges at other high schools.

Where the men involved also involved in the pledge?

Read the article.

One of the fathers as mentioned in another article was a 24-year old 'homeless' man.

The aforementioned article also links the act to a copycat of the 'Juno' movie which I also believe that this stemmed from.

Another reason why America sucks. Too many problems at home to be going off fighting wars. Broken levees, higher food and oil prices, single mothers and teen pregnancies. Rubbish.

These girls are obviously emotionally disturbed or crazy, or both. I read the article and it said that having babies was a way for these girls to get status in their little town. I think the only status they should get is being stupid, skanks.

I'd like to know how the guys were involved:

1) they knew they were getting the girls pregnant, and they were told they wouldn't be responsible for it
2) they knew they were getting the girls pregnant, knew they'd be responsible for it, and went ahead and did it anyway
3) they didn't know the girl's plan, but didn't use protection (idiots)
4) they didn't know the girls plan, DID use protection, but the girls sabotaged it

If (1), they're idiots. The law will make them responsible for it regardless of the wishes of the girl. If (2), they're idiots. Taking responsibility for a kid WITH a kid, and pretty much owning up to a future statutory rape conviction. If (3), they're idiots. Who has sex these days without protection? If (4), sucks to be them, but the law will hold them responsible regardless, and the girl won't be punished for her deception/"oops"ing.

I find (4) reprehensible, but tough luck for them in the other cases. Enjoy their ball-and-chain for the next 18 years. With luck they won't spend it inside prison for statutory rape (if the girls give up their names).

I need to be Sherlock Holmes to wonder how the guys were involved? I don't know how they were involved. I was putting forth several possible scenarios. Do you know which one fits? Or can add to the list?

Don't be shocked. Some young girls in the UK use this as a standard ploy for securing cheap accommodation from the local authorities.
Why bother studying and working when you can get knocked up and get a new flat?

One thing that could be done to stop this is to stop granting custody of children to women. If the skanks knew they would lose custody and have to pay child support then the rate of divorce and "unwanted" pregnancy would plummet overnight. Another thing would be to start prosecuting women who trick men into getting them pregnant for rape.
