I have a korea conspiracy theory that came to my mind. No idea if its possible or even likely but if I could imagine doing it then someone else should be able to as well.
It goes like this:
When LMB became President and even before he became President he made a decesion to have only english taught in english classes in public schools. This really upset the teachers and education officials who were worried that they might lose thier jobs or lose face.
Therefore they decided to make life so difficult for foriegners working for public schools that they would quit and leave Korea. They decided to do this by removing the long holidays, making longer summer camps with worse conditions, make unsubstaniated claims of abuse by teachers to have them fired, make working conditions harder by banning overseas summer holiday travel, etc.
This is all part of a plan to force foriegn teachers to find working in korea so distasteful that most teachers quit and leave korea. Then in 2010, they can say that its not feasible to have only english taught and used in english classes as there aren't enough foriegn teachers to do it and the korean teachers were not able to improve thier english due to the lack of opportunities to learn english.
So what do you think about this theory?

I think contrary to public opinion, tin foil hats do not go well with summer attire. |

I don't believe that I ever said that I believe it.
I said I made up a conspiracy theory.
I do wonder though why in a country that constantly says it wants foriegn english teachers, it makes it difficult to stay more than a few years.
Or at all. |

My last employer (uni) tried to "ban" us from leaving campus (not the country or the city proper, but the CAMPUS). I told him where to stick it, and left on vacation anyway. I would do the same to any employer who tells me where I can and cannot go on my own free time. |

What would be the motivation to put up an idea you yourself dreamed up but didn't believe in?
I don't believe that you don't believe it. |
