I think the "skinhead" culture and "white supremacy" culture is very different. I haven't seen all the films, but American History X is very, very good.

Where is Racetraitor on this one? Oh, he left the forum due to the idiocy of many people.

Skinheads have only been around in the US since the early eighties. It's been in the UK since 1969. The Original skins liked Ska a kind of upbeat Reggae that usually has a saxaphone. The two tone ska bands were a reaction against the National front

I have seen all of the movies in the poll. Starting with the best I would rate them 1. American History X 2. This is England 3. Romper Stomper and 4. Made in Britain.

The most accurate portrayal of the subculture? Don't know. I'm sure they all have their share of points.

Also worth mentionning is "White Lies" (Canadian-made movie). It's kind of cheesy, but I still liked it. Oh, and Sarah Polley is in it, and she's great!

American History X is more about the Aryan Brotherhood. There was a good HBO program called Oz that dealt with those wingnuts. The Aryan Brotherhood just happen to look like Skinheads. Although very few of them would approve listening to Prince Buster. Or for that matter any music made by non whites.

Trivia time.....Who sang "Return of the Ugly"? While we've shifted to the rudie side of the spectrum.

No Googling either.

1. Bad Brains
2. Bad Manners
3. Bad Religion

Also to add, I do think that the US ruined the skinhead "movement". I just never took any of them to serious. SHARPS for that matter were/ are a waste of time also. We had an oi band in Atlanta called the Anti-Heros and Joe was a jew (guitar) So it was funny to see the WP crowd at their shows. I think there were only 6 of them at the time. Wanna see some funny stuff go to Skunks on the weekend and see the Korean "skins". (No harm intended Jonghee) RUX is a good band.

I voted Romper Stomper as it showed the meaningless endgame of the whole bonehead scene. AHX was good too for showing the motivations for youngsters who get into that scene.

Anyhow, as for Oi bands, I get a laugh out of these guys.

If you like ska then you should check out Kingston Rudie Ska, they play at Skunks or wherever along with other Korean ska bands. Nothing groundbreaking but it's all there is here.
