I've lost 600,000KRW since December. These funds suck. I also
notice many foreign equity funds are leaving Korea in droves. Perhaps
it is not politically correct to call Koreans primitive, club-wielding
xenophobes, but that is exactly the way they are acting. This country
is in the initial steps of taking some rather LARGE steps backward in
its development. I think Lee Myung-Bak is correct in treating most
Koreans like children. Why explain the economic and business rationale
behind policies to mindless, ultra-nationalistic morons.

I've lost quite a bit more than that on Mirae Asset BRIC Funds.

But it's just the market. And over time it'll correct itself. Look at the long term -- a scale of years.

BRIC has been taking a beating, but I expect it to rebound.

600,000 won? That's like $600. That's nothing. A 2.0 million salary can fluctuate in value by a couple hundred bucks monthly just due to currency issues. Think about the value of your investment 5-10 years from now. Don't check it daily or even weekly if you can help it.

Although I'm not making the profits on my funds that I was getting last fall, I'm still above inflation. Right now the market is down, so I put some extra cash in one of my funds. I'm ready for the market to go up again anytime. Very Happy

But yes, it may not be a good idea for the weak of heart to check too often on how your fund is doing.

There is something comical and more than a little ironic about a man who evaluates the success of investment based on a short-term fluctuation of a few hundred dollars lamenting the inability of Koreans to understand the sophisticated nuances of business and economics.

Laughing

I wonder if there's a 'Cohiba's Rule' equivalent or some other such profundity, that could be devised in regards to Korean investment.
