Think I'd rather have a VD than do a Blog.

But if you had both you could share your experiences with everybody and learn and grow and become a better person from the whole experience!

Or not.

Some blogs are fun to read, like Tokyo Damage Report, and others (speaking of the "I went to the store to buy cat food but they were out of my brand and now I don't know what to do because Fluffier-Than-Thou will only eat his one special brand and I didn't know how I was going to break it to my perfect little prince that he'd have to eat something different for one meal until I could go to a different store tomorrow and get him...." variety here) make removing my own eyes with a corkscrew seem like a more valid use of my time.

December 17th, 2003

Heard of big crackdown in West Daegu from my employer. Some teacher deported, institute closed. My employer at my institute comes up to me and says "We have to be careful. Make sure you have your passports. . .diploma's. They're making a sweep."

"Are we legit?"(That is, our hagwon,) we says, two legally employed foreign English teachers blinking at eachother in dismay. "Yes," says employer. "Just beware."

"The teacher got deported for being illegal?" I interject.

"I don't know," employer says.

Neither do I, I say to myself. "Beware WHY?" I wonder, still wondering why he would approach us like this, and still waiting, and watching over my shoulder that any day now I might get deported for something I don't know anything about. Completely disenfranchised.

Anyway, that's the way he made it sound. Or maybe he has something up his sleeve.

Good guy though. I think he's just paranoid.

I agree, blogs are cluttering up the internet. Millions of people started one and gave it up 4-5 months later. (BBC Click On Line did a report on this).

That said, some are actually entertaining and have a lot of loyal fans.

I think if you have a general topic (such as travelling, cooking, relationship whatever) and stick to it, and have a lot of photos then they can be interesting. Most people however don't do this. They just ramble on about nothing kind of like that Adrienne Mole kid. Wink

Read Dave's ESL and came accross a thread about blogging, so I decided to respond.

they're also a marginally more constructive waste of time than posting on numerous message boards.

Received an email from Dave's ESL and it brought me to this thread, so I posted on it again three and half years later from the original.

I feel like I'm invading on something sacred. This thread is so old, who here can remember what it was like when this thread was still fresh (if you can't raise your hand then tap your stick).
