20gb PS3. good condition. This is a Japanese unit that works with both 110 volt and 220 volt, so you can take it home with you when you go. I have three PS3 games: Madden 07, Sonic the Hedgehog and Resistance Fall of Man, and two PS2 games: God of War and Smackdown vs Raw 2006. I'm in Bundang, twenty minutes or so from Seoul by subway, way faster by bus. This is, of a course, a blue ray HD player with the appropriate HD cables. I believe i have everything that came in the box originally, and the box. I'm only selling it because I have a 360 too and really don't play the PS3.
I am new here and do not understand how to put a picture up but i can send you pics if you want them. Or you check out the ad i put up on English Spectrum. (I hope it is cool to insert links). http://englishspectrum.com/new/board_.php?include=&mode=view&id=1876&lc=&sc=&mc=&gid=BnS&

What's the version you have? I believe there is 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0. I'd only be interested if it was 2.0. |

I don't really want the games, could you dip to 250k sans games?
Don't want to lowball you here, but x360 and PS3 are going to have major price cuts this year. Well that's the E3 rumor anyways. |

My email address for anyone interested is [email protected]
The difference between the Japanese unit and the US version is, and anyone please correct me if i am wrong: It can be plugged into both 110 and 220 volt sockets and that it can play ps2 and ps3 games
I have no idea what version it is, but if there is a way for me to check, maybe somewhere on the machine let me know
I'm not really interested in selling the machine without the games. i think it'd be a hassle trying to sell a bunch of random games. |

I'm a PS newbie.
What does the 20GB allow you to do? Download games and store them?
In that case, is it possible to burn games from your own PC?
I know the sites where to get them but have no knowledge of this matter.
Is yours modded? |

The 20gb ps3 was one of the original PS3s released, along with a 60gb version. The 20gb differs in specs from the newer ones mostly in that it doesn't do wifi and has a smaller HD. The 20gb IS backward-compatible with PS2 games. It can be updated via internet simply by plugging internet into the LAN slot in the back, or by CD rom, just like every other PS3.
I believe it will do SACD, if that interests you (not important, as it's almost a dead format and you need an expensive hi-fi system to enjoy it). The new 40gb machines are NOT SACD compatible.
You can change the HDD in any PS3 very easily. They are notebook drives, so you could up the size to at least 320gb. Easy peasy.
The advantage of having a larger drive is so you can rip/store more audio and video files, or save more downloadable game trials from the Sony site.
The 20gb models were built with the older cell chip size, so it won't be as quiet as a newer 40gb ps3, for example.
If it's a japanese model, you won't be able to play Korean DVDs with it at all. There is no hack to make this possible. You can play Korean blu-rays, as the region coding for blu-ray is different than DVD. Any blu-ray from the USA, Japan, Canada, or Korea will work in it. Games are region-free anyway. The PS3 lets you choose your language, so it can easily run in English, with the exception of the XMB sign in the upper right corner, which will be Japanese, and maybe some submenus when streaming audio/video. Other menus will be English.
I owned a Japanese PS3, which I sold to squirrel, and it was 110volts. I had to use a power converter (or so I thought). I think he might have bought a new cord for it and it worked on 220v, but I was always afraid to try that.
As for PS3's being version 1.0, 1.1, or 2.0 (a blu-ray spec), that is a misunderstanding. All PS3's are now able to update to 2.0 via internet connection. The version numbers listed in this paragraph pertain to standalone blu-ray players only now, as the PS3 is updated to 2.0. |

First off, I want to thank Bassexpander for being able to answer the questions that i could not. Just one note on what he said: The power cord has a western end (two flat prongs and a round ground) but the system is rated for any voltage between 110 and 220. The guy that sold it to me just had a standard $.50 Korean adapter and that has been working just fine. (I use the same thing for my computer and a number of other things from home that are not voltage specific).
However, I have agreed to sell the PS3 to a guy on Saturday, so unless he is a no show please consider this item sold. |

One last thing. And this is more of a question for Bassexpander. You say that there is no way to play Korean DVD's on this PS3, and honestly I've never tried, I've always just used my 360. I downloaded a program called DVD Decrypter that allows me to make DVD rips that i've downloaded from Torrent, Region free. So, if someone actually wanted to go through the hassle, couldn't they rip the DVD, convert it, and reburn it?
Aslo, What about the modded PS3's? Are they, too, incapable of playing Korean DVD's? |

A modded PS3? I've never heard of such a thing. Where did you see these, and what could they do? I'd love to know.
If you remove the region coding from a DVD by ripping it and burning it to something else, then you can play the movie just fine. It's only looking for region coding on standard DVDs. I've played burned discs from overseas on mine. |

Perhaps i spoke to soon. Perhaps living in Korea I've started assuming that everything can be modded. I actually have no idea if the PS3 can be modded or not, but i would think that it can or that it will be able to be modded soon. |
