The article quoted an Iraqi lawmaker, not Mo-in-the-street (not that lawmakers can't be hysterical, either).
And while it did not specify which analysts in "Analysts, however, believe the treaties wording might oblige the country to give the United States a free hand to use Iraq as a base for waging more wars in the Middle East," one must assume a minimal amount of credibility for them to be cited, no?
