I downloaded a movie and it has subtitles with it. I have VLC player as my preference and the subtitles are showing a winrar icon. How do i watch the movie with the subtitles?

sub files should be .smi or .srt and some others. Not .rar
Sounds like their rar'd. Extract the subs with winrar. Rename them to the same name as the movie. Put them in the same folder as the movie.
So you have in a folder:EG

moviename.avi
moviename.srt

then play the movie and you will see the subs. If VLC aint working get Gomplayer http://www.download.com/GOM-Media-Player/3000-13632-10551786.html?part=dl-GOMMediaP&subj=uo&tag=button

You don't have to rename the subtitle file to use it in VLC. Extract it from the rar file and just drag it into VLC while the movie is playing.
