Olympus E-20-N. 5.0 megapixal SLR camera.

Nikon CoolPix 880 - paid like 600,000 when it first came out...like 3.5yrs ago or so. 3.2 megapixals I think.

I have two. One is my now my wife's camera, the other is mine.

I would love to buy the Olympus E-1 but at 2.5mil for just the body, that is WAY too much coin for a camera body.

The point and click type digital cameras are good for close shots, outdoor shots and a few other types of shots.

I prefer an SLR type camera with a lens and zoom. Hence why I want the E-1.

Anyone got a Cybershot Pro by Sony? 8.0 megapixels, curious how it handles.

I'm going for a Sony Cybershot F717. It's big, but it takes the most stunning shots I've ever known. High quality 5MP, but takes far, far better shots than the new DSC-P10 in macro mode (Have tested both fairly extensively) Was rather disappointed with the P10 overall.

Cost around $800.00 last year. Not sure on the price right now.

128 MB Memory card $65
battery charger $60

they threw in $40 of free prints and 8 extra batteries.

I bought a Nikon 4300 for 400K won this summer. Very nice, an excellent macro, 4 MP, and I can add additional lenses such as teleconverters or slide copiers. Second choice would have been the Canon A70.

What to buy? I would stay with the big brands as the optics will be better, which do make a difference. Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to buy something really top-end, as you'll want to replace the camera in three years anyway when all the models are better. Mine is a stopgap camera until then.

Yeah the A70/A80 (4MP but essentially the same) would have been the winner for me, and I guess it's not too late to change my mind.

The thing is, it's a fraction bigger than what I'm comfortable with, and considering I'm a total photography noob, the features aren't relevant for me just yet. That said, I'd love to pick up another A70/A80 on the return leg of my trip if I could get one cheap.

The S400 won out because it's point and shoot, and the build is solid. Every review I've read has commented on this, and that pretty much sealed the deal. By no means is the A70 fragile, but I'm expecting my camera to cop some heavy handling, and I'm expecting it to deal with it.

I just got a Casio QV-R40 as a gift. But the batteries die so damn quickly. The longest one lasted was like 30 minutes. Is it like this in most D-Cams? This is my first one.

Where did you pick that one up...technomart....yongsan?
Cheers...RR

Is it worthwhile buying a dutyfree camera on the way for a mid-winter break? (Particularly an A70)

Be careful about this. I was quoted 2 prices; 330,000 for an illegal import not covered by warranty and 380,000 for the real deal with warranty.

I've heard that Namdaemun was the cheapest place, but I'd like the security of a warranty as well.
With that in mind, I don't mind anywhere, as long as I can get a good deal.

Where did you guys get your cameras?

jae.
