WE GOT MARRIED/ 우리결혼했어요

Who's seen this reality/ variety show on MBC? It's about 4 celebrity couples who have been randomly paired up and they pretend to be a married couple living together under one roof. The couples are:

Andy and Solbi - Andy is the youngest member of the boy band, Shinhwa and Solbi is the vocalist for Typhoon. Overall, probably the most likeable couple.

Crown J and Seo In-young - Crown J is the too cool for school, gyopo rapper and In-young is part of the group, Jewelry. Crown J is annoying as hell, but definitely entertaining with his ridiculous and sporadic usage of English. In-young is the quintessential whiney, high-maintenance, materialistic Korean girl - I hope she's not like this in real life and is just playing it up for the cameras.

Jung Hyung-don and Saori Chang - Hyung-don is a TV MC and Saori is a Japanese woman who was originally featured on Chatting With Beauties (I think). This couple is totally mismatched and boring to watch and they're eventually replaced by Lee Hwi-jae (MC) and Jo Yeo-jeong (actress).

Alex Chu and Shin-ae - Alex is a member of the band, Clazziquai and Shin-ae is a model/actress. This "perfect" couple makes me sick to my stomach but a lot of female viewers think Alex is the ideal man and a lot of Korean guys have said that they would like a sweet and innocent girlfriend like Shin-ae. Go figure. Anyway, these two are also eventually replaced by Kim Hyun-joong (of the group SS501) and Hwang Bo (lead singer for Chakra).

I think they shoot once a week and really only "live together" while they're shooting. Each week, they have a mission that they have to complete which involves some sort of activity in which the couples either fight, compete or get along really well...depending on the couple.

For those of you who don't understand Korean, you can watch it with English subtitles on crunchyroll.com...though the subtitles are far from perfect and a lot gets lost in the translation, especially the amusing commentary from the show's hosts as they watch the previous week's footage.

It's probably the hottest show on Korean TV right now...I can see why cuz it's totally addicting once you get into it. Anyway, it will give you some insight into Korean pop culture...the good and the bad.

Oooh, members of Clazziquai and Jewelry? On one show? I might even tape over some of my Hannah Montana episodes to see it.

I'd rather boil my face whilst wanking with a cheese grater than watch this dreck.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. At first it was kind of boring, but now it's not so bad.

Then don't watch...no one's forcing you to, and I sure as hell don't care whether you watch or not....though I'd like to see you boil your own face. Twisted Evil

Just thought it might be an interesting way for some of us foreigners to learn more about Korean pop culture in general. Also, it reveals a lot about Koreans' attitudes towards dating and marriage. Almost every Korean I know watches it (or has seen an episode or two) and it's a hot topic of water cooler conversation at my office.

Saw it the other day by accident. My wife was watching it and we ended laughing about it. Interesting.

I got into the show after the 3rd of 4th episode when some blogs I frequent mentioned the show. I've been a fan of Shin Ae since her appearance in Xman a few years ago so I decided to watch some Youtube eps and I liked it. Xman... now there's a show I miss.

My students have tried to describe this show to me, with marginal success.
Is it more popular than infinity challenge? That show has a lot of physical comedy that, well, I can't say I find funny, though I've only watched a couple episodes.

Of course, network TV in the States utterly sucks as well, I can't think of a show I'm into now that Sopranos is done. The Simpsons is okay, but a pale shadow of its former self.

Thanks for the link! I'd been trying to watch it in Korean with hubby translating but he isn't too interested in the show. I love it! Makes me laugh so much! Especially Crown J because he is just so ridiculous! Although, his passion for shoes is similar to my hubby's. When hubby saw him pull out the wet-naps to wipe down his shoes he said "Why didn't I think of that?" Hahaha..

It's a good show, but Infinity Challenge is much more fun.

I love this program! Who else watches this?

My favorite guy is Andy - he's like the perfect Korean guy and too good for Solbi, who is seriously fashion-challenged. Ha ha.

My favorite female is Hwang Bo, though for some reason she seems much older than 29 yrs. old (in Korean age, too).

Crown J and In-Young are fun to watch - even though it seems as if they're putting on quite the act for the cameras, at least they're entertaining.

But my favorite couple of the moment is Hwang Bo and Hyun Joong - they are so adorable together.

Alex and Shinae bore me to death. Shinae is pretty, but if I were a guy dating her, I think I'd get tired of her pretty quickly. And the other couple, I have no interest in them...I just usually fast forward past their scenes.
